YES, MA'AM. THANK YOU, MADAM PRESIDENT. GOOD EVENING. BOARD MEMBERS, THOSE THAT ARE IN ATTENDANCE TONIGHT, DOCTOR ADAM STEPHENS, OUR CHIEF ACADEMIC OFFICER, AND DOCTOR JORDAN WILL PARTNER IN PRESENTING THE TAPER REPORT.

I'LL TURN IT OVER TO DOCTOR JORDAN, FOLLOWED BY DOCTOR STEPHENS.

GOOD EVENING, MADAM PRESIDENT. BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND DOCTOR SMITH.

THIS EVENING, DOCTOR STEPHENS AND I WILL BE SHARING WITH YOU THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN OUR 24 TAPER REPORT.

BEFORE I TURN IT OVER TO DOCTOR STEPHENS, I WANT TO FIRST SHARE THAT THIS DATA IS LAG DATA, MEANING THAT THE INFORMATION THAT YOU WILL HEAR TONIGHT IS BASED ON OUR 2324 ACADEMIC SCHOOL YEAR.

AS DOCTOR STEVENS TALKS ABOUT CMR, REMEMBER THAT IS WHAT WE WOULD CONSIDER LAG LAG DATA.

MEANING WE ARE TALKING ABOUT TWO YEARS WORTH OF OLD DATA.

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO ALSO REMIND THE BOARD THAT THIS INFORMATION THAT IS BEING SHARED WITH YOU THIS EVENING, WE'VE DISCUSSED WHETHER IT'S IN MR. GWEN'S FINANCIAL RATING PRESENTATION TO YOU ALL, WHETHER IT'S IN A DISCIPLINE UPDATE, A STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT UPDATE. THIS INFORMATION IS SOMETHING THAT WE'VE BEEN DISCUSSING ONGOING.

AND SO AS WE'RE WALKING THROUGH THE DATA, SOME OF THE INFORMATION THAT DOCTOR STEVENS WILL SHARE WILL ALMOST SOUND REPETITIVE BECAUSE WE'RE GOING TO IDENTIFY CHALLENGES, BUT WE'RE ALSO GOING TO ADDRESS SOME ACTION STEPS THAT WE'RE MOVING FORWARD.

IT'S GOING TO BE A LITTLE BIT OF A CHALLENGE FOR US TO SAY, THIS IS WHAT WE'RE DOING ABOUT 23.

24. DATA. BECAUSE IT'S OLD. BUT WE WILL TELL YOU THIS IS WHAT WE'RE DOING FOR THIS YEAR WITH A PROJECTION OF OUR DATA INCREASING AND IMPROVING.

AND SO I WANTED TO STATE THAT BEFORE I TURN IT OVER TO DOCTOR STEPHENS.

AND THEN I WILL COME BACK AT THE END TO CLOSE THIS OUT.

BUT, YOU KNOW, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT THE STATE DOES LIKE US TO DO IS THEY GIVE US 90 DAYS FROM THE TIME THE DATA IS RELEASED TO, TO GET IN FRONT OF YOU ALL AND GET IN FRONT OF THE PUBLIC. SO BASICALLY WHAT THIS IS, IS THIS IS ALL THE IMPORTANT DATA THAT WE HAVE DISTILLED DOWN INTO A REALLY EASY TO DIGEST PRESENTATION FOR THE PUBLIC. SO THIS IS STATUTORILY REQUIRED TO BE ON OUR WEBSITE.

OUR PAPER PRESENTATION WILL BE ON OUR WEBSITE.

AND SO THEY JUST WANT TO KEEP THIS NICE AND EASY FOR THE PUBLIC.

AND THEN WE'VE GOT SOME TIME BUILT IN FOR PUBLIC COMMENT AND FOR QUESTIONS, AND SO THE TAPER WAS RELEASED ON DECEMBER 12TH, 2024. SO WE ARE WELL WITHIN OUR 90 DAYS. SO PROBABLY THE BIGGEST AREA THAT THE TAPER FOCUSES ON IS STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT.

AS DOCTOR GORDON SAID, THIS DATA IS OUR 2023 2024 STAR DATA.

SO THAT DATA CAME OUT TO YOU ALL. IT WAS PRESENTED SEVERAL TIMES.

AND WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THIS DATA BECAUSE THIS IS PRESENTED IN A WAY THAT, YOU KNOW, PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS CAN SAY, WELL, HOW WELL IS MY SCHOOL DISTRICT DOING COMPARED TO MAYBE THE DISTRICTS DOWN THE STREET OR THE STATE IN GENERAL? SO WHEN WE LOOK AT THIS DATA, WE SEE THAT, YOU KNOW, FORT BEND ISD, WE ARE OUTPERFORMING BOTH THE STATE AND THE REGION ACROSS THE BOARD.

IN FACT, OF THE 15 STAR ASSESSMENTS THAT ARE GIVEN TO STUDENTS IN GRADES THIRD THROUGH EIGHTH, WE ARE OUTPERFORMING THE STATE IN THE REGION ON ALL OF THOSE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE.

AND THAT ONE IS KIND OF INTERESTING BECAUSE IT'S THE EIGHTH GRADE STAR MATH ASSESSMENT.

HOWEVER, ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE HAVE TO REMEMBER ABOUT OUR EIGHTH GRADE STAR MATH ASSESSMENT IS WE HAVE A GOOD PORTION OF OUR STUDENTS WHO ARE ALREADY TAKING ALGEBRA ONE SO THEY'RE NOT ACTUALLY FACTORED INTO THAT. SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO LOOK AT WHEN WE LOOK AT ALL STUDENTS, ALL GRADES, ALL TESTS FOR EOCS, OUR STUDENTS ARE REALLY HITTING THE BALL OUT OF THE PARK. SO WE ARE REALLY, REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. SO THIS IS JUST OUR APPROACHES, GRADE LEVEL. THIS IS WHERE WE LOOK COMPARED TO ALL FOUR SUBJECTS. WHEN WE GET TO ALL GRADES, ALL SUBJECTS BY STUDENTS GROUPS.

AGAIN, YOU SEE THAT WE ARE CONTINUING TO OUTPERFORM BOTH THE REGION AND THE STATE.

AND ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S REALLY EXCITING IS ESPECIALLY AS YOU LOOK AT OUR EOC DATA, YOU KNOW, OUR ENGLISH ONE DATA, WE'RE OUTPERFORMING THE STATE.

ESPECIALLY THAT GAP WIDENS WHEN YOU LOOK AT MEETS AND MASTERS ENGLISH TWO, WE'RE OUTPERFORMING THE STATE.

WHAT IS REALLY INTERESTING IS THAT OUR ALGEBRA ONE, WE'RE ONE POINT BELOW THE STATE.

BUT WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR MEETS AND MASTERS DATA, WE BEGIN TO NOW OUTPERFORM THE STATE AND MEETS AND MASTERS.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S REALLY EXCITING WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR EOC DATA, IS WE HAVE THIS GAP THAT BEGINS TO WIDEN WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR MEETS AND MASTERS STUDENTS.

SO IT'S JUST A TESTAMENT TO THE LEVEL OF RIGOR AND CHALLENGE THAT IS PRESENT IN OUR SECONDARY CLASSROOMS, AND IT'S A TESTAMENT TO THE WORK THAT OUR TEACHERS AND CAMPUS LEADERS ARE DOING. SO WE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

IN TERMS OF OVERALL MEETS, GRADE LEVEL PERFORMANCE, AGAIN, WE CONTINUE TO OUTPERFORM THE STATE.

AND I DO APOLOGIZE BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE SOMEWHAT REPETITIVE.

OUR CAMPUSES ARE DOING A REALLY GOOD JOB. YOU KNOW, WE WE CONTINUE, LIKE I SAY, THE REGION, WE OUTPERFORM THE REGION. SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE ARE DOING IS WE ARE NOT RESTING ON OUR LAURELS.

THAT'S WHAT WE'RE EXCITED BECAUSE WHEN WE CAN OVERLAY THIS DATA WITH OUR BEGINNING, MIDDLE, END OF THE YEAR MAP DATA, IT'S GOING TO ALLOW US TO IDENTIFY AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY.

SO, YOU KNOW, WE'VE SET AN INTERNAL GOAL OF ONE AND A HALF YEARS GROWTH FOR ALL STUDENTS.

SO WE'RE THEN GOING TO BE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE END OF THE YEAR AND SAY, WHERE ARE THOSE EASY AREAS FOR US? AND WE HAVE HIGH ACHIEVEMENT, BUT MAYBE THERE'S MORE OPPORTUNITIES FOR MORE GROWTH FOR STUDENTS.

AND SO WE ARE REALLY EXCITED. SO WHEN WE DO COME BACK NEXT YEAR, WE'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO OUTPERFORM THE STATE AND WE'RE GOING TO BEGIN TO SEE THOSE GAPS WIDEN. SO AGAIN, WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR MEETS PERFORMANCE ACROSS ALL SUBJECT AREAS.

WE CONTINUE TO OUTPERFORM THE STATE. THERE'S JUST NOT A LOT TO SAY THERE.

AND THEN WHEN YOU GET TO OUR MASTER'S GRADE LEVEL AGAIN, FORT BEND ISD IS OUTPERFORMING THE STATE IN EVERY SINGLE SUBJECT AREA IN TERMS OF APPROACHES, MEETS OR MASTERS FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENT GROUPS. SO WE ARE WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THAT.

AGAIN, THIS IS A TESTAMENT TO THE WORK THAT TAKES PLACE DAY IN AND DAY OUT IN OUR CLASSROOMS. IT'S A TESTAMENT TO THE WORK THAT THE CURRICULUM TEAM HAS DONE, AND THIS WORK IS ACTUALLY GOING TO DOVETAIL REALLY NICELY, BECAUSE WE DO KNOW THAT WE HAVE AREAS OF OPPORTUNITY WITH OUR CURRICULUM.

AND SO TODAY WAS DAY ONE. THE CURRICULUM AUDITORS ARE HERE.

THEY ARE IN FORT BEND ISD. I KNOW DOCTOR JORDAN SPENT A GOOD PORTION OF HER WEEKEND WITH THEM.

WE GOT TO HAVE OUR AUDITS TODAY. THEY'VE BEEN ON CAMPUSES. SO THEY'RE ON CAMPUSES, THEY'RE WALKING CLASSROOMS, AND THEN THEY'RE GOING TO GIVE US A REALLY COMPREHENSIVE OPPORTUNITY REALLY COMPREHENSIVE AUDIT THAT TELLS US, EVEN WITH THE SUCCESS THAT WE'RE HAVING ON STANDARDIZED TESTS, WHAT CAN WE DO TO ENSURE THAT OUR CURRICULUM IS CHALLENGING AND IT MEETS THE NEEDS OF ALL OF OUR STUDENTS? SO WE ARE REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THAT. AND THEN WHEN YOU GET INTO KIND OF WHERE THE RUBBER BEGINS TO MEET THE ROAD, WE LOOK AT GROWTH, RIGHT? SO REMEMBER, WHEN WE LOOK AT GROWTH FOR STARTS, THE STUDENT MEET OR EXCEED THE SAME PERFORMANCE STANDARD THAT HE OR SHE WAS AT LAST YEAR.

SO I'M ON SLIDE NINE. SO WE SEE AGAIN THAT WE CONTINUE TO OUTPERFORM THE STATE.

WE HAD GROWTH IN TERMS OF OVERALL, BOTH SUBJECTS.

WE HAD TREMENDOUS GROWTH IN TERMS OF READING.

BUT WE KNOW IN MATH WE CONTINUE TO HAVE AREAS OF OPPORTUNITIES.

AND SO AS WE GET THE RESULTS OF THAT CURRICULUM AUDIT BACK.

WE ALSO CONTINUE TO LOOK DAY IN AND DAY OUT. WHAT CAN WE DO TO PROVIDE MORE RIGOROUS SUPPORT FOR OUR STUDENTS WHO MAYBE HAVE NOT BEEN AS SUCCESSFUL ON THAT STAAR EXAM, OR HAVE NOT BEEN AS SUCCESSFUL ON THE MIDDLE OF THE YEAR MATH EXAM.

SO WE'RE WORKING CLOSELY WITH THE TEAM. WE'RE SPENDING TIME IN IN CLASSROOMS. WE'RE SPENDING TIME ON CAMPUSES TO ENSURE THAT OUR STUDENTS THAT DO NEED THOSE EXTRA INTERVENTIONS AND SUPPORTS ARE BEING AFFORDED THOSE OPPORTUNITIES.

AND SO WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO CONTINUE TO DO THIS WORK.

AND AGAIN, AS WE LOOK AT ACCELERATED GROWTH ALL GRADES.

AND SO THIS SLIDE IS REALLY KIND OF ON THE SURFACE.

IT'S CHALLENGING TO READ. BUT WHAT THIS SLIDE CAPTURES IS THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO LAST YEAR TWO YEARS AGO WEREN'T SUCCESSFUL ON STAAR.

WHAT PERCENTAGE OF THOSE STUDENTS WERE WE ABLE TO HELP GET SOME SUCCESS? AND SO YOU SEE THAT WE HAVE 32% OF OUR STUDENTS THAT WEREN'T SUCCESSFUL ON BOTH SUBJECTS WERE ABLE TO GET THOSE PASSING. WE HAD 31% OF OUR STUDENTS WHO WERE NOT SUCCESSFUL IN THE READING EXAM.

WE WERE ABLE TO MOVE THOSE STUDENTS TO PASSING IN 32%.

SO WE KNOW THAT PART OF THE WORK THAT WE NOW HAVE TO DO STATUTORILY IS THAT ANYTIME A STUDENT IS NOT SUCCESSFUL ON THE STAR EXAM, WE ARE NOW REQUIRED TO GIVE THEM SPECIFIC STATE PRESCRIBED INTERVENTIONS.

AND SO WE DO SEE SOME OF THOSE INTERVENTIONS ARE WORKING.

BUT WE KNOW WE NEED TO CONTINUE TO WORK AT THE INDIVIDUALIZED STUDENT LEVEL TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE MEETING THOSE STUDENTS NEEDS, BECAUSE WE WON'T BE SATISFIED UNTIL THIS GRAPH SHOWS 100%.

AND SO THAT'S SOMETHING THAT I KNOW THE TEAM IS CONTINUING TO TO WORK HARD ON.

ONE OF THE OTHER THINGS THAT WE'RE EXCITED TO, TO REPORT TO YOU ALL IS THAT WE CONTINUE TO MAKE PROGRESS IN TERMS OF A NOT ONLY GETTING OUR STUDENTS TO SCHOOL, BUT KEEPING OUR STUDENTS IN SCHOOL.

SO YOU SEE THAT OUR ATTENDANCE RATE HAS INCREASED. I KNOW DOCTOR SHAW AND HER TEAM WILL TELL YOU THAT THEY HAVE BEEN WORKING HAND IN HAND WITH THE CAMPUSES TO ENSURE THAT THEY ARE GETTING OUR KIDS TO SCHOOL EVERY TIME THEY ARE PUTTING SYSTEMS IN PLACE TO SUPPORT THOSE STUDENTS, AND THAT WE CONTINUE TO SEE A DECREASE IN OUR DROPOUT AND OUR DROPOUT RATE.

SO I CAN TELL YOU THAT THEY HAVE DONE A TREMENDOUS JOB IN SITTING DOWN WITH THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE AT RISK AND LEVERAGING THOSE COLLEGE CAREER READY ADVISORS AND READY, READY IN RALLYING THE DROPOUT TEAMS TO ENSURE THAT THOSE STUDENTS THAT DO NEED THAT DIFFERENTIATED SUPPORT, NOT EVEN THAT CLASSROOM SUPPORT, BUT JUST THAT SUPPORT AT THE CAMPUS LEVEL, THEY ARE PROVIDED THAT SUPPORT.

AND SO YOU KNOW, WE SEE THAT 2122 WAS INTERESTING YEAR.

IT WAS THE FIRST YEAR BACK FROM COVID. SO WE CONTINUE TO MAKE MAKE PROGRESS AS A DISTRICT.

SO WE'RE EXCITED ABOUT THAT. SO WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR FOUR YEAR LONGITUDINAL GRADUATION RATE, THIS IS SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW IS INTERESTING. YOU KNOW, WHAT WE SEE IS THAT WE DID NOT WE DID NOT MEET WHERE WE WERE LAST YEAR.

BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS WAS A CHALLENGE THAT DOCTOR SHER AND HER TEAM HAVE CONTINUED TO MEET HEAD ON WITH THIS YEAR.

SO THEY'VE ALREADY BEGUN, PROBABLY IN DECEMBER. THEY'VE BEGUN CONVERSATIONS WITH THOSE STUDENTS WHO THEY HAVE IDENTIFIED AS HAVING THE POTENTIAL TO NOT WALK ACROSS THAT STAGE.

AND SO THEY'VE BEEN WORKING WITH THOSE STUDENTS. THEY'VE BEEN MEETING WITH THOSE FAMILIES TO DO TWO THINGS. ONE, ENSURE THAT EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THOSE STUDENTS ARE HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO NOT WALK ACROSS THAT STAGE, BUT THEN COMMUNICATE TO MOMS, DADS AND THOSE STUDENTS WHAT THEY NEED TO DO IN ORDER TO BE SUCCESSFUL.

BECAUSE OUR GOAL IS, AGAIN, 100% OF STUDENTS GRADUATE AND 100% OF STUDENTS ARE COLLEGE AND CAREER READY.

SO DOCTOR CERNER TEAM HATS OFF TO THE TO THE WORK THAT THEY'VE DONE. SO I'M EXCITED NOW FOR THIS THIS DATA.

I'M GOING TO BE MORE EXCITED NEXT YEAR WHEN WE GET TO STAND IN FRONT OF YOU AND SHOW YOU THE INCREASES THAT WE'VE HAD. AGAIN, DOCTOR JORDAN HIT ON THIS.

SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT'S REALLY CHALLENGING IS TO STAND IN FRONT OF YOU AND TALK TO YOU ABOUT DATA THAT IS OLD.

SO WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR COLLEGE CAREER, MILITARY READY DATA, THIS DATA IS FROM 2023, RIGHT? AND SO EVEN IF DOCTOR SHER AND HER TEAM DO WHAT THEY'VE SET OUT TO DO AND GET EVERY STUDENT A COLLEGE CAREER READINESS INDICATOR.

WE WON'T SEE THE BENEFITS OF THAT DATA FOR ANOTHER TWO YEARS.

RIGHT. BECAUSE WHEN WE GET OUR ACCOUNTABILITY DATA FOR THIS YEAR, IT'S GOING TO BE BASED ON THE WORK THAT THE TEAM DID LAST YEAR.

SO WE KNOW THAT 65% WAS IS TRENDING IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

WE SEE TWO YEARS AGO WE WERE AT 62%. BUT I CAN TELL YOU THE TEAM HAS WORKED DILIGENTLY.

THEY'VE PUT NEW SYSTEMS IN PLACE. SO THEY ARE REALLY COMMITTED TO ENSURING THAT EVERY STUDENT THAT ATTENDS FORT BEND ISD SCHOOL DOES LEAVE US COLLEGE CAREER AND MILITARY READY.

SO WE ARE WE ARE REALLY EXCITED TO SEE THIS. WE'RE REALLY EXCITED TO CONTINUE TO OFFER OUR STUDENTS MORE OPPORTUNITIES, AND WE'RE EXCITED TO TALK MORE ABOUT THOSE IN THE COMING MONTHS. WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR OVERALL STUDENT PROFILE, WE SEE THAT WE ARE IN A REALLY JUST WE'RE STATIC AS A DISTRICT, WE DON'T SEE MUCH GROWTH. OUR POPULATION GROUPS LOOK THE SAME.

LAST YEAR AS AN EXAMPLE, WE WERE 53% ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED, WHERE THIS YEAR WE ARE 49 POINT SORRY, WE WERE 50.3% ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED. THIS YEAR WERE 49% 49.6%, SO THERE'S NOT MUCH CHANGE.

OUR STUDENT GROUPS, LIKE I SAID, REMAIN, REMAIN FAIRLY STATIC.

AND SO, YOU KNOW, THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS, AGAIN, THAT WE HAVE OPPORTUNITIES THERE TO CONTINUE TO MEET OUR STUDENTS, CONTINUE TO KNOW OUR STUDENTS, AND CONTINUE TO WORK WITH OUR INDIVIDUAL STUDENT GROUPS.

SAME THING WITH OUR STAFF. OUR OUR STAFF GROUPS ARE RELATIVELY STATIC.

WE SEE THAT A LOT OF THEM DON'T CHANGE. WHEN WE LOOK AT THAT.

WE FIND TEACHERS AS TEACHERS, OUR TEACHERS, OUR SPECIAL DUTY TEACHERS, AND OUR SUBSTITUTE TEACHERS.

OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF ARE ASSIGNED OR SORRY.

OUR PROFESSIONAL STAFF ARE CODED AS TEACHERS, PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT, CAMPUS ADMIN AND DISTRICT ADMIN PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT.

THOSE ARE OUR THERAPISTS, OUR NURSES, OUR LIBRARIANS, OUR COUNSELORS, AND OUR OTHER CAMPUS PROFESSIONALS. OUR CAMPUS ADMINS ARE OUR PRINCIPALS, OUR APS AND OUR OTHER ADMINISTRATORS. AND OUR CENTRAL ADMINISTRATORS ARE OUR SUPERINTENDENTS.

CHIEF. CHIEF. CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICERS, CHIEF ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICERS, BUSINESS MANAGERS, ATHLETIC DIRECTORS AND OTHER ADMINISTRATORS THAT HAVE A CENTRAL OFFICE ID.

AND SO WHAT YOU SEE HERE IS THAT FOR THE FIRST YEAR AFTER THE STUDENTS LEFT FORT BEND ISD IT GIVES YOU A BREAKDOWN OF THEIR GPA.

SO YOU CAN SAY, HEY, WE HAD WE HAD 815 STUDENTS THAT WENT TO A FOUR YEAR PUBLIC SCHOOL AND THEIR GPA WAS 3.5 OR HIGHER.

SO THAT'S SUPER IMPRESSIVE. SO ONE OF THE THINGS THAT WE DO KNOW IS THAT WE HAD 1134 STUDENTS WHO WENT TO EITHER A 2 OR 4 YEAR SCHOOL, AND THAT THEIR FIRST YEAR COLLEGE GPA WAS ABOVE 3.5.

SO WE THINK THAT'S REALLY A TESTAMENT TO NOT ONLY THE EDUCATION THAT THEY GET HERE, BUT JUST TO THE TENACITY AND THE TYPE OF STUDENTS THAT WE'RE WE'RE PREPARING FOR THE RIGORS AND CHALLENGE OF COLLEGE. SO WE CONTINUE TO WANT TO DO MORE.
