[I. Welcome & Mindful Moment – Allison Thummel, SHAC Chair ]

[00:00:09]

ALL RIGHT, EVERYONE. WELL WE'LL GO IN AND BEGIN. HI. MY NAME IS ALLISON THUMMEL. WELCOME TO TODAY'S SHACK. THE FORT BEND INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT SHACK MEETING IS AN OPEN MEETING FOR THE PUBLIC TO ATTEND OR VIEW. THE TIME IS 12:03 P.M. ON MAY 15TH, 2024, AND THE MEETING IS NOW OFFICIALLY CALLED TO ORDER. NOTICE OF THIS MEETING HAS BEEN POSTED ONLINE AT THE FBISD ADMINISTRATION BUILDING FOR AT LEAST 72 HOURS. THE MEETING, RECORDING AND MEETING MINUTES WILL BE POSTED TO THE FBISD SHACK WEB PAGE WITHIN TEN DAYS. IF WE HAVE THE ATTENDANCE OF A QUORUM, WE WILL BE ASKING FOR VOTES. WE ASK THAT AT THIS TIME, EVERYONE SILENCE THEIR PHONES AND PLEASE HOLD ANY COMMENTS OR QUESTIONS TILL THE END OF EACH PRESENTER. SO WELCOME TO TODAY'S MEETING AGAIN. MY NAME IS ALLISON THUMMEL. I KNOW WE HAVE SOME NEW MEMBERS IN ATTENDANCE. I MET A COUPLE OF YOU GUYS. WELCOME. WE'RE GLAD YOU'RE HERE, TODAY IS A REALLY EXCITING MEETING. A FUN MEETING, BECAUSE WHAT WE'RE DOING IS WE'RE CELEBRATING OUR SCHOOL HEALTH ADVISORY COUNCIL. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE CELEBRATIONS FROM THE YEAR. WE'RE GOING TO HONOR SOME PEOPLE. AND SO I HOPE THAT EVERYBODY REALLY ENJOYS THIS MEETING. SO WITH THE SHACK MEETING, WHAT WE'VE TYPICALLY DONE IS HAVE A MINDFUL MOMENT. AND WHAT I LIKE TO HAVE PEOPLE DO IS YOU CAN KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN OR CLOSED. AND I LIKE TO THEM FOR THEM TO THINK ABOUT SOMETHING OR GO BACK TO SOME PLACE OR SOME FEELING THAT YOU ENJOY. AND SINCE WE'RE CELEBRATING, I WANT YOU TO THINK ABOUT A CELEBRATION THAT MAYBE YOU HAD ENJOYED. MAYBE IT'S A BAR MITZVAH, OR MAYBE IT'S YOUR 16TH BIRTHDAY, OR YOUR 50TH BIRTHDAY, OR YOUR 80TH BIRTHDAY.

WHATEVER IT IS, I WANT YOU TO JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES. IF YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE AND JUST THINK ABOUT THE PEOPLE THAT WERE THERE, THE EXCITEMENT, THE YOU KNOW, JUST THE JOY YOU MIGHT HAVE FELT AT THAT CELEBRATION. ALL RIGHT. AND LET'S TAKE A NICE DEEP BREATH IN AND GET READY FOR OUR FUN, EXCITING MEETING. AND AM I CONTROLLING THIS? YES. THE BLINKER. RIGHT. OKAY EXCELLENT.

SO THAT WAS OUR LITTLE MINDFUL MOMENT. OH HOLD ON. WE HAD TO SWITCH TO THE SMART SCREEN, DUE TO SOME TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. OKAY QUICK. WHICH ONE? ALL RIGHT , SO AT THIS TIME, I'M SO

[II.A. Dr. Marc Smith, FBISD School Superintendent ]

EXCITED. I MET WITH CATALINA, OUR INCOMING CHAIR, AND I MET WITH DOCTOR SMITH A FEW MONTHS AGO. I WAS SO HONORED THAT HE TOOK THE TIME, HE REALLY SEEMS TO EMBRACE WELLNESS. AND I'M SUPER EXCITED THAT HE'S OUR NEW SUPERINTENDENT, YOU HEARD OUR PRESENTATION THE OTHER NIGHT.

WE'RE HAVING SOME REALLY EXCITING THINGS IN THE DISTRICT, SO, SHACK, PLEASE HELP ME WELCOME DOCTOR MARK SMITH. SO GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY. HOW YOU DOING TODAY? DOING ALL RIGHT.

WELL, FIRST THING YOU KNOW, I'VE ATTENDED A LOT OF SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS OVER MY YEARS, BUT I HAVE NEVER HAD A MINDFUL MOMENT AT A SCHOOL BOARD MEETING. SO, WE HAD A MINDFUL MOMENT THE OTHER DAY. WE HAD TO STAND UP AND STRETCH AND DO ALL OF THAT STUFF. AND I SAID, MAN, THAT IS SO NEAT. WE NEED TO INCORPORATE THAT IN EVERY BOARD MEETING. HOW YOU THINK THE BOARD WOULD GO FOR THAT? WE SURE COULD. BUT NO, I DO WANT TO RECOGNIZE, ANGIE HANNAN, OUR BOARD, TRUSTEE THAT'S HERE. AND THEN OUR FORMER BOARD MEMBER THAT IS HERE, MISS GUERRERO. JAMES, YOU ALL KNOW.

BUT ON A SERIOUS NOTE, THANK YOU, THOUGH, FOR THE MINDFUL MOMENTS, YOU KNOW, WE LIVE IN A HECTIC PACE WORLD, AND ALL OF US HAVE SO MANY THINGS GOING ON, AND WE DON'T ALWAYS TAKE TIME TO HAVE A MINDFUL MOMENT. AND WHEN WE DO, AND WHEN I HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO HAVE A MINDFUL MOMENT, I NEVER REGRET THAT I DID THAT. I NEVER FELT LIKE I LOST TIME OR THAT IT WASN'T WORTH IT. SO THANK YOU FOR MAKING SURE THAT WE TAKE THOSE MINDFUL MOMENTS. AND I DO REMEMBER THAT, AND I GOTTA TELL YOU, YOU KNOW, YOU GOT A PASSIONATE LEADER HERE. SO WHEN WE FIRST MET AND WE WERE JUST HAVING OUR ONE ON ONE MEETING, GUESS WHAT SHE MADE ME DO IN THAT MEETING? A MINDFUL MOMENT. SHE DID. SHE SAID, WE NEED TO JUST BREATHE. AND I DID, AND IT WAS MY FIRST TIME MEETING HER. SO I WAS THINKING, OH, WHAT IS YOU KNOW, BECAUSE I GOT MY SUPERINTENDENT HAT ON AND I'M TRYING TO BE SUPERINTENDENT AND SHE COMES IN AND SAYS, TAKE A MINDFUL MOMENT. AND I SAID, OKAY, I CAN ROLL WITH THAT. I CAN ROLL WITH THAT. SO THANK YOU. BUT IT SPEAKS TO THE PASSION THAT THIS, LEADERSHIP HAS FOR THE WORK THAT YOU DO, WE JUST HAD TWO STUDENTS, THAT TOOK

[00:05:08]

THEIR LIVES. AND, YOU KNOW, I WONDER IF, YOU KNOW, THEY HAD SOMEONE LIKE YOU IN THEIR LIFE WHO COULD HELP THEM DEAL WITH SOME OF THE EMOTIONAL TRAUMA THAT THEY ARE EXPERIENCING WITH THINGS HAVE TURNED OUT DIFFERENT. SO IT JUST SPEAKS TO THE POWER OF THIS GROUP. AND IT'S NOT JUST THE CHILDREN, IT'S THE ADULTS TOO. AND SO THE WORK THAT YOU DO, IT REALLY MATTERS.

AND, THE PRIORITIES THAT YOU ARE REALLY WORKING HARD TO PUT AT THE FOREFRONT OF THE BOARD, IT REALLY MATTERS. AND IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE NOT ONLY FOR THE STUDENTS, BUT FOR THE ADULTS.

AND SO I WANTED TO TAKE A MOMENT JUST TO SPEAK TO FROM THE HEART TO LET YOU KNOW THAT THE WORK YOU'RE DOING IS VERY MEANINGFUL, AND YOU NEVER KNOW WHO YOU MAY BE SPEAKING TO. THOSE KIDS NEEDED SOMEBODY TO HEAR THEM, AND THERE ARE MANY ADULTS OUT THERE THAT ARE WORKING IN THE CLASSROOMS THAT NEED PEOPLE TO HEAR THEM. AND THE ISSUES THAT EVERYBODY IS DEALING WITH FROM AN EMOTIONAL STANDPOINT, THEY NEED A CHAMPION TO BE ABLE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DECISION MAKERS HERE AND UNDERSTAND WHAT THOSE NEEDS ARE, AND THAT'S WHAT YOU DO. YOU CAUSE US TO STOP IN THE HECTIC PACE AND THINK ABOUT THESE THINGS. SO I WANT YOU TO KNOW I APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH.

I APPRECIATE YOUR LEADERSHIP. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE IS NOT KIND OF A CHECK, A BOX, KIND OF A LIST. OR WE DID THAT. NO, IT'S MEANINGFUL WORK THAT ACTUALLY CHANGES LIVES AND HELPS LIVES. SO PLEASE CONTINUE DOING WHAT YOU DO. AND I KNOW THE LEADERSHIP IS GOING TO CONTINUE, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ALL STOP ME INCLUDED, RIGHT? THAT I STOP AND THINK AND PROCESS AND BREATHE SO THAT THE THINGS THAT REALLY MATTER THE MOST, THAT, BECAUSE WE CAN'T LEARN IF WE DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT MINDSET AND THE RIGHT WELLNESS, TO PUT US IN A POSITION TO LEARN WHETHER STUDENTS OR ADULTS. AND SO YOU PLAY A KEY ROLE IN THAT. SO ONE, THANK YOU FOR HELPING US ALL TO STOP AND BREATHE AND TO JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, BECAUSE WE NEED YOU AND THE STUDENTS NEED YOU. SO SO, I WISH I COULD BE HERE FOR THE WHOLE MEETING. I HAVE ANOTHER GROUP THAT, IS WAITING ON ME IN THIS IN A ROOM JUST ADJACENT TO HERE. BUT I COULDN'T MISS THIS MOMENT. DID A WONDERFUL JOB AT THE BOARD MEETING, THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT INFORMATION. YOU HAVE A LOT OF GREAT GOALS, GREAT IDEAS AND THINGS THAT I THINK WE CAN INCORPORATE IN OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT, TO MAKE EVERYBODY BETTER IN TERMS OF JUST THEIR OVERALL WELLNESS. SO. SO THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO. AND KEEP PUSHING. MAKE US ALL STOP AND BREATHE BECAUSE WE NEED TO DO THAT. SO ALL RIGHT. SO THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. I MIGHT STILL CALL YOU NEXT YEAR OKAY. ANOTHER SPITFIRE COMING. SO SHE LITERALLY MADE US STAND UP IN THE BOARD MEETING AND JUST STRETCH AND ALL THAT, LIKE LITERALLY. SO I NEVER DONE THAT BEFORE, SO IT WAS GOOD. THANK YOU. WELL, POOR LORI WAS NEXT TO ME AND WE SAT FOR A GOOD TWO, 2.5 HOURS BEFORE AND I WAS SQUIRMING IN MY SEATS AS A KID, I THINK I HAD ADHD, SO IT WAS GOOD FOR, YOU KNOW, ME. AND IT DID REALLY WAKE EVERYBODY UP, AFTER IT SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS A 5 OR 6 HOUR MEETING, SO I'M GLAD WE HAD A LITTLE BRAIN BREAK IN THERE, SO. ALL RIGHT. EXCELLENT. WELL, THANK YOU. CARRY ON, CARRY ON. THE TRADITION. OKAY. WELL WE'RE GRATEFUL THAT, DOCTOR SMITH WAS ABLE TO COME AND AM I

[Items II.B. - II.D. ]

NOT POINTING THE RIGHT BUTTON? DO I JUST GO FORWARD? OKAY. RECOGNIZE OCEANS? OH, THIS IS THE FUN PART. WELL, DOCTOR SMITH WAS FUN, TOO. OKAY, SO WE HAVE OUR SHAQ, OUTGOING EXECUTIVE TEAM. I JUST KIND OF WANT TO HAVE EVERYBODY MAYBE STAND AND GIVE A LITTLE WAVE AS WE HONOR YOU. SO MYSELF, I'M. THIS IS MY LAST MEETING. OKAY MY CO-VICE CHAIR OF THE PAST TWO YEARS, DANA TRAN, CO VICE CHAIR AND INCOMING PRESIDENT, MISS CATALINA FLORES RAO. JENNA ROSS HAS SERVED AS OUR SECRETARY. EX-OFFICIO MELANIE AND BAJA. DID SHE COME IN? MELANIE. YAY AND JIGISHA DOSHI, WHO IS STAYING ON AS OUR MEMBERSHIP CHAIR. SO GREAT JOB. FANTASTIC TEAM, FANTASTIC TEAM. SO HERE ARE OUR INCOMING EXECUTIVE TEAMS. MISS CATALINA FLORES IS GOING TO TAKE THE CHAIR. AND OUR VICE CHAIR IS NICOLE. JER, WAIT. HOLD ON. SHE TOLD US YOU'RE A SHARK. NO, YOU'RE A CHECK YOUR RAW CHECK. OH, DARN IT, DARN IT, DARN IT. OKAY, YOUR RAW CHECK. NICOLE YURACHEK I SAID LIKE RAH RAH RAH RAH RAH RAH. OKAY. DEREK CRAIG, WHO IS A PHYSICAL ACTIVITY CONFERENCE, BUT HE'S OUR INCOMING SECRETARY. YAY JIGISHA IS STAYING ON AS OUR MEMBERSHIP

[00:10:06]

CHAIR, AND THEN I WILL BE SERVING AS EX OFFICIO. DID YOU SEE ALL, LIKE, THE ATHLETIC PICTURES? I WAS TRYING TO HAVE SOME SOME FUN PICTURES IN THERE. OKAY, SO WE HAVE A MEMBER WHO HAS CELEBRATED TEN PLUS YEARS WITH THE SHACK AND THAT IS MR. DOUG EARL. I SAW HIM SOMEWHERE.

WE HAVE. HE WAS ALSO RECENTLY HONORED WITH THE SCHOOL DISTRICT . OOPS. BACK UP. THERE YOU GO.

THERE'S YOUR PICTURE OF DOUG, DOUG, WE HAVE A SMALL LITTLE TOKEN OF OUR APPRECIATION. IF YOU WANT TO COME UP AND GRAB YOUR LITTLE GIFT. TEN YEARS HE'S PUT UP WITH THIS CROWD. YOU WANT ME TO JUMP INTO IT? AND THEN THE NEXT SET OF PEOPLE IS PEOPLE WHO ARE NOMINATED FROM MEMBERS OF THE SHACK FOR OUR WELLNESS HEROES. THESE ARE PEOPLE WHO ARE REALLY MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE COMMUNITY, MAYBE, MAYBE AT THEIR CAMPUS LEVEL OR AS INDIVIDUALS. SO WE, SUBCOMMITTEES. OOPS. OKAY, I JUMPED TO SLIDE. OKAY. WE'LL DO OUR SHACK SUBCOMMITTEES, IF SAME THING IF YOU JUST WANT TO KIND OF STAND UP AND GIVE A WAVE. THANK YOU. OKAY. SO ADVOCACY, MISS CHASTITY, I DON'T THINK I SAW HER. OKAY OUR CAMPUS WELLNESS LEADER, LADONNA. CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE'S HEALTH AND SAFETY. MR. BART ROSEBERRY IS NOT HERE, BUT, YES, HE JUST JUMPED INTO THAT ROLE, SUSAN, MARY HAS COME ON RECENTLY AS WELL. YAY! P.E. AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY. KIM TAYLOR. AND OUR STUDENT WELLNESS, COMMITTEES. MISS SB OR ANGELA ESPINOSA, WHO IS ALSO NOT HERE, BUT WE'RE GRATEFUL FOR HER SERVICE. SO FOR A COUPLE NEW MEMBERS. SO THE SHACK IS THE 40 PERSON, GROUP THAT MAKES UP THE SHACK. WE ALWAYS INVITE GUESTS, SO INVITE YOUR NEIGHBORS, YOUR FRIENDS, ANYBODY YOU'RE ON FACEBOOK WITH. BUT WE HAVE SUBCOMMITTEES, AND THAT'S WHERE A LOT OF THE WORK GETS DONE. EACH OF THE SUBCOMMITTEES WORKS TOWARDS GOALS IN THEIR PARTICULAR AREA. SO IF YOU ARE NEW OR IF YOU WANT TO SWITCH SUBCOMMITTEES, LOOK AT THESE GROUPS AND SEE IF THERE'S A PASSION THAT RESONATES WITH YOU. AND THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD SUBCOMMITTEE, WE ARE GOING TO HAVE CELEBRATIONS OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE, SO YOU'LL BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT SOME OF THOSE ACCOMPLISHMENTS HAVE BEEN THIS YEAR. OH, NO. LORI AND LORI SARTAIN, OUR WHOLE CHILD HEALTH. LAST BUT NOT LEAST. OKAY SO THIS IS WHAT I WAS TRYING TO JUMP TO, BECAUSE I WAS VERY EXCITED ABOUT THESE INDIVIDUALS. SO WE HAD FIVE NOMINATIONS FROM THE SHACK MEMBERS. IS IT STUDENTS? OKAY. SORRY I'M. I'M TRYING TO GET TO YOU, MISS WHISENANT. OKAY. HERE ARE THE STUDENTS. SO THIS IS OUR DISTRICT STUDENT WELLNESS COALITION. SO EACH OF THESE CAMPUSES, WE HAVE, THE HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS IS LISTED IN EACH OF THE CAMPUSES SELECTED BETWEEN TWO AND FOUR MEMBERS TO REPRESENT THEIR CAMPUS. THEY TRIED TO HAVE WELLNESS EVENTS ON THEIR CAMPUS. ■AND THEN THEY MET WITH THE DISTRICT COALITION. AND SO THESE WERE OUR STUDENTS THAT, AT EACH OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES. SO THEY ARE NOT HERE, BUT, WE'D REALLY LIKE TO GIVE THEM ALL A LITTLE HAND FOR THE WORK THEY'RE DOING. NOW WE GO. OKAY. FINALLY. OKAY. SO WELLNESS HEROES, I'VE KIND OF EXPLAINED WHAT THAT WAS. OUR FIRST WELLNESS HERO IS MISS NATALIE BOSTIC. DID SHE WALK IN? OH, THERE SHE IS. WHAT'S UP? YEAH OKAY. OKAY SO OUR FIRST ONE IS HEROES, MISS NATALIE BOSTIC. SHE IS THE NURSE FROM JAMES REESE CAREER AND TECHNICAL CENTER. AND I'M GOING TO READ WHAT YOUR NAME? YOUR THE PERSON WHO NOMINATED YOU. NOMINATED? YOU SAID ABOUT YOU. SHE SAYS I WOULD LIKE TO NOMINATE MISS NATALIE BOSTIC OF JAMES REESE CAREER AND TECHNICAL CENTER. I HAVE WORKED WITH HER ON THE CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND IN THE PAST SHE HAS CHAMPIONED A LOT OF THINGS IN THIS COMMITTEE. STILL SERVING, SHE ATTENDS THE MEETINGS WITH IDEAS. SHE GIVES A LOT OF SUGGESTIONS AND A LOT OF WAYS TO HELP IMPROVE WELLNESS.

THE WELLNESS CLIMATE AT REESE, SHE IS AMAZING. AS A NURSE, SHE SPENDS COUNTLESS HOURS WORKING WITH THE STUDENTS, AND SHE PROVIDES COMFORTING WORDS OF HOPE WHEN THE STUDENTS SEE AND HEAR AND ARE ANXIOUS, SAD, OR DEPRESSED, SHE IS THEIR CHAMPION. SHE IS AN ADVOCATE FOR WELLNESS AND IN HER IN HER PROFESSIONAL LIFE AND IN HER PERSONAL LIFE. THANK YOU SO MUCH, MISS BOSTIC. YOU ARE SUCH A WONDERFUL ADVOCATE. LADONNA, ARE YOU OKAY?

[00:15:02]

CONGRATULATIONS. OKAY. THE NEXT PERSON THAT WE'RE GOING TO SPOTLIGHT IS MISS BRIANNA GARCIA . SHE IS FORT BEND COORDINATOR OF MARKETING FOR CHILDHOOD NUTRITION. AND THE PERSON WHO NOMINATED NOMINATED. YOU SAID THAT BRIANNA HIGHLIGHTS AND PROMOTES ALL SHACK NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEE EVENTS, SHE, HIGHLIGHTS ALL OF OUR CAMPAIGNS, AND SHE SENDS TWO KIDS AND SUPPORTS ALL SHACK SUBCOMMITTEES BY VOLUNTEERING TO BE THE MARKETING COORDINATOR. SHE DOES AMAZING WORK. BRIANNA ASSISTS WITH EVERY SHACK NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEE GOAL IN SOME FORM, AND WE ARE SO GRATEFUL TO HAVE HER. THANK YOU. BRIANNA I GUESS. OKAY. THE NEXT PERSON IS MISS NICOLE JURCZYK AND SHE IS SHE IS YOUR EYE CHECK. YOUR EYE CHECK, AND SHE IS A REPRESENTATIVE FOR NEW ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PTO. AND IT SAYS THAT, NICOLE MET WITH ALL SCHOOL GARDENS. SHE WORKED TIRELESSLY GATHERING INFORMATION RESOURCES FOR FBISD GARDEN NETWORK. SHE ASSISTED WITH MEETING VENDORS, DONATING SEEDS AND PLANTS, AND CONTRIBUTING TO ALL OF THE TOOLKITS FOR THE GARDENS. THANK YOU FOR THE WORK THAT YOU'VE DONE FOR US, MISS, YURACHEK YOUR EYE CHECK. YOUR EYE CHECK. SHE'S OUR VICE CHAIR. OUR NEXT ONE IS CHAMPION IS MR. ERIC SWEENEY, AND HE'S THE ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL FOR CLEMENTS HIGH SCHOOL. MR. SWEENEY LEADS CLEMENTS HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUS ONES COMMITTEE. HIS PASSION AND DEDICATION TO BRINGING HEALTH AND WELLNESS TO STUDENTS AND STAFF AT CLEMENTS IS INSPIRING. HE HAS GREAT IDEAS AND IS ENCOURAGING AND SUPPORTIVE OF OTHERS IDEAS AS WELL. HIS ABILITY TO GET THINGS DONE ENSURES WE'VE BENEFITED FROM A VARIETY OF WELLNESS INITIATIVES AND CAN LOOK FORWARD TO MORE, HE IS AMAZING WITH WHAT HE DOES.

MR. ERIC SWEENEY. OKAY. OKAY. AND OUR LAST ONE IS CHAMPION IS MISS DONNA WHISENANT, AND SHE'S THE PRINCIPAL OF ARIZONA. I MEAN, OF ANNE SULLIVAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. OKAY. SO YOUR YOUR NOMINATION IS LIKE A BOOK. I'M GOING TO READ IT ALL BECAUSE YOU SO AND I'VE ATTENDED A LOT OF EVENTS ON YOUR CAMPUS AND YOU DO AMAZING WORK. SO YOU DESERVE THE BOOK THAT IS WRITTEN ABOUT YOU WITH REZONING, SULLIVAN LOST A LOT OF STUDENTS AND GAINED A MAJORITY OF NEW STUDENTS AND FAMILIES. PRINCIPAL WHISENANT LISTENED AND HELPED WITH MANY OF THE STRUGGLES THAT RESULTED. WE STARTED WITH HELLO, HELLO WEEK AND THEN HEY DUDE, NICE SHOES, WHICH WAS AMAZING. I LOVED IT, IT WAS A GREAT ANTI-BULLYING PRESENTATION. WHAT WAS UNIQUE WAS THAT THERE WAS AN EVENING PRESENTATION FOR PARENTS ONLY WHEN THE HEAT WAS UNBEARABLE AND IT WAS UNSAFE FOR STUDENTS TO GO OUTSIDE FOR RECESS. SHE ALLOWED KIDS TO INTERMINGLE BETWEEN CLASSES AND HAD DIFFERENT BOARD GAMES PURCHASED FOR THE SCHOOL. SHE ALSO MADE SURE THAT SEL STUDENTS HAD ALL THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES, SUCH AS BEING ABLE TO COME OUT FIRST TO CHECK OUT THE OBSTACLE EVENTS AND WHEN THEY WHEN THERE WERE LESS CROWDS . WE ALSO HAD SOME BAD LUCK WITH THE SECURITY OFFICERS, BUT SHE KEPT THE PARENTS INFORMED AND ADDRESSED ALL CONCERNS. SULLIVAN ALSO HAD A REALLY COOL YOGA EVENT FOR TEACHERS AND STAFF AT SCHOOL. I BELIEVE PRINCIPAL WHISENANT IS DEFINITELY A WELLNESS CHAMPION. THE DEFINITION OF A WELLNESS CHAMPION. THANK YOU. PRINCIPAL WHISENANT. AND YOU WERE NOMINATED BY BY DANA. SO WE WOULD LIKE TO HAVE DANA IN THE PICTURE WITH YOU. SHE WAS MY. OKAY OKAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CELEBRATING, EVERYBODY THAT

[III.A. 23-24 PRIDE Survey Highlights; Kim Taylor, Coordinator Health, PE and Wellness ]

WE'VE HONORED AND JUST TALKED ABOUT TODAY, WE ARE GOING TO KIND OF MOVE TOWARD OUR BUSINESS PORTION OF THE MEETING. AND I'M REALLY EXCITED TO BRING UP THIS INDIVIDUAL, GENERAL SUGGESTED THAT WE REVIEW OUR PRIDE RESULTS, KIM TAYLOR IS GOING TO COME UP IN A MOMENT AND TALK ABOUT WHAT PRIDE IS AND WHAT THE RESULTS ARE, AND THEN THE IMPLICATIONS. SO PLEASE HELP ME WELCOME MISS KIM TAYLOR. THANK YOU EVERYBODY, ALL RIGHT. LET ME MAKE SURE I CAN WORK THIS CLICKER. OH, YEAH. THERE WE GO. GOT IT. OKAY YES. MY NAME IS KIM TAYLOR. I'M THE COORDINATOR OF

[00:20:04]

HEALTH AND PE, AND WELLNESS HERE IN FORT BEND. AND EVERY OTHER YEAR, ONE OF MY DUTIES IS TO OVERSEE THE, PRIDE SURVEY. SO THE PRIDE SURVEY IS GIVEN OUT, TO SEVENTH, NINTH AND 11TH GRADERS. SO ON ALL OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMPUSES AND ALL OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL CAMPUSES. OKAY, I DON'T LIKE THESE THINGS, WE STRIVE TO GET 100 STUDENTS AT EACH CAMPUS FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL, AND THOSE STUDENTS SHOULD BE APPROXIMATELY HALF BOYS AND HALF GIRLS. AND WE ALSO DO MAKE SURE THAT THE SAMPLING OF STUDENTS THAT WE GET ARE, INCLUDES SOME OF OUR GT OR HIGHER LEVEL STUDENTS, JUST SO WE MAKE SURE WE'RE GETTING A GOOD SAMPLE.

THAT'S WEIRD. WHY IS THAT BLINK? OH, WELL, DIDN'T KNOW THAT I HAD A FANCY POWERPOINT. I DIDN'T DESIGN IT THAT WAY, BUT THAT WORKS FOR ME. OKAY, THIS. IT'S WEIRD TO HAVE IT BEHIND ME. THIS SURVEY WAS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN FORT BEND ISD AND THE FORT BEND COMMUNITY PREVENTION COALITION. THEY HELP US PUT ON THIS SURVEY EVERY OTHER YEAR. SO THEY'RE NOT HERE. BUT I DO WANT TO GIVE THEM RECOGNITION FOR THAT, LIKE I SAID, WE DO 100 STUDENTS FROM SEVENTH TO NINTH AND 11TH GRADE. IT TAKES THEM ABOUT 25 TO 30 MINUTES TO COMPLETE THE SURVEY. AND TWO YEARS AGO WAS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE STARTED THE ONLINE SURVEY PROCESS. AND WE'RE PERFECTING THAT. AND IT WAS MUCH BETTER THIS TIME. AND THIS YEAR. OH, IT'S ANONYMOUS AND THEY CAN DECLINE TO PARTICIPATE, ALTHOUGH VERY FEW OF THEM DO. ONCE THEY SEE WHAT IT IS, THEY'RE KIND OF INTERESTED IN IT. AND THEY GO AHEAD AND PARTICIPATE. AND THIS YEAR WE SURVEYED, 3419 STUDENTS.

SO THAT'S JUST A BRIEF OVERVIEW. OKAY. THIS TIME THE WHOLE THING CAME UP. I JUST I HAVE TO KEEP LOOKING BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S COMING UP BEHIND ME, LIKE I SAID, WE HAVE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. WE USED THE SEVENTH GRADERS. AND IN HIGH SCHOOL WE USED NINTH AND 11TH GRADERS.

THIS JUST SHOWS THE NUMBERS BY GRADE. OBVIOUSLY, WE HAVE MORE MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS BECAUSE WE HAVE MORE MIDDLE SCHOOLS. THIS NEXT SLIDE SHOWS OUR THE DEMOGRAPHICS OF THE STUDENTS THAT WE SURVEYED, AND DO KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A SELF-REPORT SURVEY. SO THEY ARE SELF-REPORTING THESE DEMOGRAPHICS, IT IS PRETTY REPRESENTATIONAL OF OUR DISTRICT DEMOGRAPHICS. SO. I'M TRYING TO PUT THEM ALL UP THERE. ONE MORE. THE JUST SOME CAUTIONS AS WE MOVE FORWARD. YOU KNOW, THIS IS A SELF-REPORT SURVEY. SO THERE ARE ALWAYS, SOME CAUTIONS WHEN THAT IS THE CASE. ALTHOUGH WE DO LIKE THE IDEA THAT IT'S A SELF-REPORT SURVEY SO THAT WE ARE HEARING STRAIGHT FROM THE STUDENTS ABOUT THESE ISSUES, THE ONLINE SURVEY DOES PRESENT SOME CHALLENGES. IT'S DIFFICULT TO MONITOR, IF A STUDENT IS ANSWERING ALL OF THE QUESTIONS AND THOSE TYPES OF THINGS, UNTIL THE DATA COMES BACK, THE RESULTS DO VARY IN SYNC WITH THE NATIONAL RESULTS, WHICH SUGGESTS THE STUDENTS ARE HONEST IN RESPONDING. IT'S NOT A SCIENTIFICALLY SELECTED SELECTED SAMPLE. WE CALL IT A CONVENIENCE SAMPLE, AND THERE ARE ERRORS IN ALL SURVEY. AND IT WAS COLLECTED AT THE SCHOOLS. BUT THE PROBLEMS WITH SUBSTANCE ABUSE OBVIOUSLY ARE COMMUNITY BASED. SO I'M JUST GOING TO GIVE YOU AN OVERVIEW OF SOME GENERAL TRENDS THAT WE SAW THIS YEAR, AND I WANT TO LET YOU KNOW THAT EVERY CAMPUS GETS DATA SPECIFIC TO THEIR CAMPUS. I'M GOING TO GO OVER THE DISTRICT DATA AS A WHOLE, BUT EVERY CAMPUS GETS THEIR OWN DATA AND SO THAT THEY CAN THEN USE THAT WHEN THEY MEET. AND TALK ABOUT ANY ISSUES THAT THEY MIGHT NEED TO ADDRESS. SPECIFICALLY ON THEIR CAMPUS. THIS GRAPH REPRESENTS THE OVERALL, STUDENTS RESPONDING YES TO USING SPECIFIC DRUGS IN THE LAST 30 DAYS. SO A LOT OF THE GRAPHS WILL SHOW 30 DAYS, AND A LOT OF THE GRAPHS WILL SHOW IN THE PAST YEAR, TYPICALLY THEY THEY SHOW SIMILAR DATA FOR, AND I YEAH, I AM I HOPE Y'ALL CAN SEE THAT, YOU CAN SEE HERE THAT MARIJUANA IS HIGHER THAN CIGARET USE, BUT E-CIGARETTE USE IS HIGHER. THAN MARIJUANA USE. BUT ON THAT NOTE,

[00:25:04]

THE PRIDE SURVEY DOESN'T. WHEN IT ASKS ABOUT E-CIGARETTES, IT DOES NOT SPECIFY WHAT'S IN THOSE E-CIGARETTES. AND AS WE KNOW, THE TRENDS ARE KIND OF SHIFTING TO WHAT THEY'RE PUTTING IN THERE SOMETIMES, SO THAT IS ONE CLARIFICATION I JUST WANTED TO MAKE. AND ADD. ALCOHOL IS STILL THE MOST COMMON DRUG OF CHOICE. THIS IS THE USE OF ANY ILLICIT SUBSTANCE. IN THE PAST 30 DAYS.

AS IT SAYS IN RED. ANY ILLICIT SUBSTANCE DOES INCLUDE MARIJUANA . SO YOU CAN SEE THAT THE PERCENT OF USE INCREASES IN 11TH GRADE, AND SEVENTH GRADERS, IT'S HIGHER THAN OUR NATIONAL NUMBERS . THAT'S KIND OF OVER HERE. IN THE ILLICIT DRUG USE IN THE PAST YEAR, IS SIMILAR. THE NUMBER HAS HAS JUMPED OVER THE NATIONAL AVERAGE FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. BUT OUR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS, IT'S LOWER THAN THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. IT'S FUN TO LOOK AT DATA RIGHT? IT'S KIND OF HARD TO MAKE IT SUPER EXCITING, WE'RE ALSO GOING TO LOOK AT WHERE STUDENTS USE THESE SUBSTANCES. SO YOU CAN SEE THAT MOST STUDENTS REPORT USING THESE SUBSTANCES AT HOME. AND THAT SCHOOL IS THE SECOND LOWEST PLACE THAT THEY USE THESE SUBSTANCES JUST ABOVE IN A CAR.

WHICH IS INTERESTING, IF YOU BREAK IT DOWN BY SUBSTANCE, YOU CAN STILL SEE THAT, AT SCHOOL AND IN A CAR ARE THE TWO LOWEST AND THAT AT HOME IS STILL THE HIGHEST. SO THIS ONE'S BROKEN DOWN BY SUBSTANCE. THIS ONE'S ALCOHOL. THAT'S MARIJUANA. THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. I DON'T KNOW THAT THAT WAS SHARED IN THE REPORT THAT I WAS GIVEN. IF I HAVE ANOTHER ONE AND THIS E-CIGARETTES AS WELL AT HOME AND FRIENDS HOUSE SEEMS TO JUMP UP A LITTLE BIT FOR E-CIGARETTES.

E-CIGARETTES KIND OF EVENS OUT RIGHT, THEY'RE USING A LITTLE MORE AT SCHOOL, A LITTLE MORE IN A CAR, A LITTLE MORE AT HOME. AND WE BELIEVE THAT TO BE DUE TO HOW EASY IT IS TO BRING AN E-CIGARETTE OR A VAPING DEVICE, BECAUSE THERE'S SO MUCH SMALLER AND EASIER TO HIDE, SO THEY'RE ABLE TO TAKE THEM IN. YOU KNOW, A LOT OF PLACES, AND THEY'RE NOT AS SCARED, IF YOU WILL, TO TAKE THEM INTO SCHOOL. SO OKAY. NOW WE'RE GOING TO LOOK AT SUBSTANCE USE TRENDS OVER TIME. THE NICE THING ABOUT THE PRIDE SURVEY IS IT DOES ALLOW US TO COMPARE RESULTS, BACK THROUGH THE YEARS, LIKE I SAID, WE DO THIS EVERY OTHER YEAR, SO WE DON'T HAVE LAST YEAR'S DATA, BUT WE DO HAVE TWO YEARS AGO AND FOUR YEARS AGO AND SIX YEARS AGO. SO WE CAN LOOK AT THE TRENDS OVER THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS, I THINK WE'LL GO. WE'RE GOING BACK TO LOOKING ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2015. YOU LOOK THROUGH THE YEARS, YOU'LL SEE A SLIGHT BUMP, IN IN CIGARETS IN OUR SEVENTH GRADERS. BUT FOR THE MOST PART, IT IS GENERALLY, BEEN DECLINED SINCE 2015. ALCOHOL USE AGAIN, A SLIGHT INCREASE IN OUR SEVENTH GRADERS AND 11TH GRADERS SINCE 21, BUT A GENERAL DECLINE SINCE 2015. SO IT'S INTERESTING.

WE'VE HAD A COUPLE BUMPS, OH, WAIT. SKIP, SORRY ABOUT THAT. YOUR FACES TOLD ME. WE'VE HAD A COUPLE BUMPS JUST SINCE OUR LAST SURVEY ADMINISTRATION, BUT THE GENERAL, IS STILL A DECLINE FROM 2015. IS IT THE SAME NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT ARE LIKE, IS THE DECLINE BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OF STUDENTS WHO ARE PARTICIPATING IN IT? NO OUR NUMBER OF STUDENTS, LIKE I SAID, WE ALWAYS, STRIVE FOR 100 STUDENTS IN EACH GRADE LEVEL AT EACH CAMPUS, AND IT MIGHT VARY A LITTLE BECAUSE SOMETIMES SURVEYS HAVE TO GET THROWN OUT, BUT IT'S STILL PRETTY, PRETTY CLOSE NUMBERS. I COULD GO BACK AND LOOK AT THOSE TOTAL NUMBERS. OH YEAH. TRUE. THE SAME SET OF

[00:30:04]

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

INTERESTING AND THEN IT'S VERY INTERESTING BECAUSE FEMALES REPORT, A HIGHER PERCEPTION OF RISK FOR THESE SUBSTANCES, YET THEY'RE USING THEM MORE. SO THAT'S SOMETHING TO PONDER. WE DON'T KNOW THE EXACT REASON AND WHAT'S MOTIVATING THEM TO USE MORE IF THEY DO PERCEIVE IT TO BE RISKIER. RIGHT. OKAY. THE NEXT TOPIC, THE PRIDE SURVEY, DOES GATHER DATA AROUND THOUGHTS

[00:35:10]

OF SUICIDE. SO I WANT TO SHARE THAT DATA WITH YOU, MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS. THE RESPONSES OF OFTEN OR A LOT THAT THEY HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT SUICIDE HAS INCREASED A LITTLE BIT FROM OUR LAST ADMINISTRATOR SESSION, SO IT JUST INDICATES A NEED. OBVIOUSLY FOR FURTHER EFFORTS, WITH OUR STUDENTS. THAT WAS HIGH SCHOOL. THIS IS MIDDLE SCHOOL. BUT SIMILAR, BUMP THIS YEAR OVER TWO YEARS AGO. WE ALSO GATHERED DATA ABOUT, HOW SAFE STUDENTS FEEL AT SCHOOL. SO WHERE DO THEY FEEL LEAST SAFE? THIS SHOWS THAT THEY FEEL LEAST SAFE, AND THE PARKING LOT AND ON THE BUS, IT, AGAIN, JUST TO POINT OUT, CAMPUSES GET THEIR SPECIFIC CAMPUS DATA. SO THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THEY CAN LOOK AT AS A CAMPUS TO DETERMINE HOW TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY OF SOME OF THESE AREAS WHERE STUDENTS DON'T FEEL QUITE AS SAFE. THIS IS, THIS SLIDE REPRESENTS SOME CYBER BULLYING DATA. THERE SEEMS TO BE A BIGGER CONCERN IN THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS THAN IN THE HIGH SCHOOLERS, IF YOU INCLUDE THE DATA FROM ONE TIME TO SIX TIMES OR MORE, 21.6% OF THE MIDDLE SCHOOLERS REPORT BEING EMBARRASSED OR THREATENED ON THE INTERNET OR CELL PHONE. FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS, IT'S A LITTLE LOWER AT 14. SO WE DO, YOU KNOW, STILL NEED TO ADDRESS CYBER BULLYING ISSUES ON OUR CAMPUSES AS. MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS ON OUR CAMPUSES, 70% OF OUR STUDENTS FEEL SAFE SPEAKING TO AN ADULT ON CAMPUS ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH CONCERNS. THAT'S A THAT'S A PRETTY NICE NUMBER, ADDITIONALLY, ABOUT 59% FEEL THAT IT'S EASY TO ACCESS THE MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS IN OUR DISTRICT AND ON OUR CAMPUSES, CONVERSELY, 25% OF THE STUDENTS REPORT BEING UNAWARE OF ANY SUPPORTS ON THEIR CAMPUS. SO WE DO STILL NEED TO CONTINUE TO JUST GET THAT AWARENESS OUT THERE THAT WE DO HAVE THOSE SUPPORTS AVAILABLE TO THEM.

THAT'S IT. YEAH. DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS? YES, MA'AM. THE PRINCIPALS GET THE DATA IN THEIR FOLDERS, NOT THAT I KNOW OF. IT'S I DON'T THINK IT'S SOMETHING THAT IS RELEASED PUBLICLY, I'M SURE YOU COULD ASK YOUR PRINCIPAL IF YOU'RE IF YOU'RE CONCERNED ABOUT A SPECIFIC SITUATION. SO. YOU KNOW.

RIGHT. THAT'S THAT'S A GOOD THOUGHT. THIS SURVEY IS NOT DEVELOPED BY FORT BEND ISD. WE, CONTRACT THIS SURVEY OUT. AND SO THESE ARE STANDARD QUESTIONS THAT THEY USE, AND THAT IS ALSO WHY WE HAVE NATIONAL DATA TO COMPARE IT TO, BECAUSE THE SAME SURVEY COMPANY IS DOING THESE SURVEYS WITH, YOU KNOW, NATIONALLY WITH OTHER STUDENTS. SO WE CAN COMPARE, SURE, SURE.

RIGHT. THANK YOU. YES I'M SORRY. SHE WANTED TO KNOW IF WE COULD ADD THE WHY QUESTIONS TO THE SURVEY, AND WE DON'T CREATE THE SURVEY, BUT IF WE GIVE SURVEY FEEDBACK, I CAN DEFINITELY INCLUDE THAT IN THE FEEDBACK. YES MELANIE. JOHNSON WITH

[00:40:34]

. OKAY SURE. YEAH. OKAY GREAT. THANK YOU FOR THAT REMINDER, I DO KNOW THAT THE WELLNESS COMMITTEES HAVE ACCESS TO IT ON EACH CAMPUS. THEY HAVE ACCESS TO THEIR CAMPUS DATA. SO, THANK YOU . YES, MA'AM. YES YES, MA'AM. ACTUALLY, ALSO ON THE STREETS.

NO, I THINK NATIONALLY, I THINK OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICTS CAN CHOOSE WHAT GROUP OF STUDENTS THEY WANT TO, TO, HAVE ACCESS TO THE SURVEY AND SURVEY. SO THAT'S BEEN A FORT BEND I, I WAS TEACHING HEALTH IN FORT BEND. I'VE BEEN TEACHING FOR, WELL, THIS IS MY 29TH YEAR IN THE DISTRICT, AND THE PRIDE SURVEY HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THAT LONG. SO IT'S JUST BEEN DONE THAT WAY THAT LONG. AND SO WE HAVEN'T SEEN A NEED TO CHANGE THAT. FOR OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS WE DID IT IN THE MONTH OF OCTOBER. AND FOR OUR HIGH SCHOOLERS WE DID IT IN THE MONTH OF MONTHS OF JANUARY AND FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR. BASED ON CHANGE. PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN THAT YOU MAY THINK THERE'S NOT A RISK, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY MUCH WORSE THAN SEPTEMBER 1ST. RIGHT.

THE CONSEQUENCES IS RIGHT. YES. YEAH, THAT'S A GOOD POINT. RIGHT? YEAH EXACTLY. SO YOU COULD JUST SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT HOW IN SEPTEMBER THEY PASSED A LAW FOR, MARIJUANA. THE CONSEQUENCES LEGALLY TO BE MORE STRICT. RIGHT. I DON'T WANT TO MAKE SURE I WAS WORDING IT CORRECTLY. RIGHT. AND SO THAT THE PERCEPTION OF RISK MAY BE STUDENTS ARE NOT AWARE OF THAT AND THAT THE LAW HAS BECOME MORE STRICT. AND SO THAT WOULD BE A GOOD CAMPAIGN TO PUT OUT THERE THAT, SOME OF THOSE LAWS HAVE CHANGED AND MADE IT, YOU KNOW, STRICTER CONSEQUENCES IF YOU'RE FOUND WITH MARIJUANA. AND SHE ALSO POINTED OUT THE VAPING HAS ALSO BEEN KIDS HAVE TO GO STRAIGHT TO DIEPPE. SO I THINK THAT THAT ONE THEY'RE KIND OF AWARE OF, I THINK SO, YES . IF THERE'S A CAMPUS THAT SHOWS A BIG INCREASE, SHE WANTED TO KNOW IF AROUND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, IF ONE CAMPUS HAS A SLIGHTLY HIGHER NUMBERS, IF THERE'S AN INTERVENTION, AGAIN, THE CAMPUSES DO GET THEIR OWN DATA. AND SO THAT IS DEFINITELY SOMETHING THAT THEY WOULD SIT DOWN WITH THEIR, WHEN THEY MAKE THEIR CAMPUS GOALS AND THEIR COMMITTEES AND I'M SURE THEY WOULD GET TOGETHER AND ADDRESS THAT AS BEST THEY CAN, IT IS.

RIGHT RIGHT, RIGHT. AND THAT IS THE OTHER PIECE, RIGHT? I, I GO OUT, I'M THE BOOTS ON THE GROUND AND I GET THE INFORMATION ON, AND THEN I PRESENT THE INFORMATION TO THE CAMPUSES, BUT THEN IT'S KIND OF UP TO THE CAMPUSES AND THEIR LEADERS TO TAKE THAT DATA. AND, YOU KNOW, ADDRESS THOSE ISSUES. YES, MA'AM . I'M A GRANULAR LEVEL, LIKE WHEN THESE KIDS HAVE THE SURGERY ADMINISTERED TO THEM, WHAT'S COMMUNICATED TO THEM ABOUT THE PURPOSE OF THE SURVEY AND ANONYMITY AND SO WE DEFINITELY WE WELL, THERE'S A SCRIPT THAT COMES WITH IT. SO THAT WE DO READ THE SCRIPT EVERY TIME WE GIVE THE SURVEY AND IT EXPLAINS THAT IT IS ANONYMOUS, AND THAT WE ARE SIMPLY GATHERING DATA. IF THEY KIND OF ASK ME QUESTIONS ABOUT IT, I JUST EXPLAIN TO THEM THAT WE ARE TRYING TO GATHER DATA AND THEY ARE THE BEST PEOPLE FOR US TO GET THAT DATA FROM, BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONES THAT ARE LIVING IT ALL DAY, EVERY DAY. RIGHT, BUT THAT IT'S 100% ANONYMOUS AND WHEN THEY GO IN TO DO THE SURVEY, THEY'RE NEVER ASKED FOR NAME ID. NO. THE

[00:45:04]

ONLY THING THEY'RE ASKED ARE SOME OF THOSE DEMOGRAPHIC QUESTIONS RIGHT, AND SO, YOU KNOW, I THINK THEY START TO REALIZE THAT IT, IT IS ANONYMOUS. WE DON'T PEER OVER THEIR SHOULDER. WE DON'T WATCH THEM AND TRY TO SEE THEIR ANSWERS. THAT KIND OF THING. SO, I THINK MOST OF THEM, ONCE WE KIND OF GET GOING, THEY REALIZE THAT WE'RE NOT TRYING TO SEE WHO'S ANSWERING WHAT RIGHT. IT'S LIKE IT'S ONLINE. YEP.

I DO THINK THAT CAMPUS LEADERS EXCUSE ME, MEET WITH DSL MEMBERS ABOUT SOME OF THEIR DATA AS WELL, AND THEY DSL MEMBERS ARE FOLLOWING UP TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT IS PART OF THEIR, YEARLY KEY GOAL SETTING PROCESS . I WOULD LIKE TO SEE. OTHERWISE, I'LL TRY. SHE EXPRESSED THAT SHE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE SURE THAT SOMEBODY IS FOLLOWING UP WITH CAMPUSES TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE ADDRESSING SOME OF THESE NUMBERS, ESPECIALLY AROUND THE SUICIDE NUMBERS, TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE IS FOLLOW UP. AND THERE IS SOMETHING BEING DONE TO ADDRESS THAT CONCERN. ON THAT, WHY IS IT THAT THE RESULTS ARE NOT SHARED OUT? AT THE END OF THE DAY, THIS IS WHAT'S GOING ON WITH THE SURVEY. THIS IS HOW DO YOU KNOW ARE FEELING THIS ON THEIR CAMPUS AND THE OTHER PART OF THAT IS THAT PARTICIPATION OF PARENTS AND SCHOOLS AND ALSO PREVENTION OF SUICIDE. SO THERE'S A LOT OF SPEND A LOT OF TIME ON THERE THAT. KIND OF. WE DO NOT SURVEY. AS WELL. SO WE HAVE TO, THAT'S A GOOD POINT. SHE'S POINTING OUT THAT SHE THINKS PARENTS WOULD BENEFIT FROM SEEING THIS DATA AS WELL, SO THAT THEY COULD UNDERSTAND THE REAL CONCERNS. I DO KNOW THAT THE DATA IS USED WITH THE FORT BEND COMMUNITY PREVENTION COALITION WHEN THEY DO PRESENTATIONS ON CAMPUSES AND THINGS LIKE THAT, AND SOME OF OUR WELLNESS WEBINARS THAT WE DO. YOU KNOW, SOME OF THE DATA IS USED WITHIN THOSE PRESENTATIONS, BUT AN OUTWARD SHARE OF THE DATA IS TO THE PARENTS HAS NOT NECESSARILY, YOU KNOW.

RIGHT. SO. WELL, IT'S SHARED WITH THE PRINCIPALS, AND THEN THEY SHARE IT WITH THEIR. THE PRINCIPALS GET IT FIRST, AND THEN THEY SIT DOWN AND LOOK AT IT WITH THEIR SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MEMBER AND, AND LOOK FOR POINTS OF CONCERN. SO MAYBE. THERE IS AT LEAST AT

[00:50:04]

CERTAIN CAMPUSES THAT MIGHT BE. DISCUSSED. ESPECIALLY TO HELP KIDS FEEL. AND EVERYONE THIS IS GREAT. WE JUST WENT AHEAD AND DID IT ON OUR OWN. I WAS FOOLISH TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. SO LIKE AT LEAST KNOWING FROM THE PTO PERSPECTIVE. I THINK THAT CAMPUS LEADERS, HANDLE THAT DIFFERENT ON EVERY CAMPUS. A CAMPUS LEADER DECIDES WHO THEY WANT TO SHARE THAT DATA WITH. CURRENTLY OTHER THAN WELLNESS COMMITTEES AND THE DISTRICT SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MEMBERS. IT'S.

THE PARENTS. AND TOGETHER. I GET WHAT YOU'RE SAYING ABOUT THIS COMING RIGHT. BECAUSE IT IS SO.

SO I WILL DEFINITELY FOLLOW UP TO MAKE SURE THAT THE DOCUMENT IS MADE PUBLIC AGAIN AS WE DID TWO YEARS AGO, AGAIN, THANKS FOR. ANOTHER REASON. ONE OF THE BIG REASONS THAT WE PUSHED HAVING A STAFF MEMBER BE A CAMPUS WON'T BE ON THE CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE, BECAUSE EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM KNOWS ABOUT THESE PROGRAMS. EVERYBODY IN THIS ROOM CAN ASK FOR THE ASK FOR COUNSELORS TO SHOW THEIR PTA OR PTO, THEIR CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION. WE'VE DONE THAT. WE INVITED THE GENERAL PUBLIC, AND THEY LOVED IT. SO THAT'S ONE OF THE REASONS THAT PLEASE TRY TO GET YOUR FRIENDS HERE AND THEN TO JOIN OUR CAMPUS COMMITTEE. YES. LASTLY IS THERE ANY REQUIREMENT THAT, IS THERE ANY REQUIREMENT THAT THIS IS SHARED WITH THE PAC AT THE CAMPUS PLANNING ADVISORY COMMITTEE? YES I JUST TACO AND MY MEMBERS, MY HEAD MAY NOT BE ACCURATE AND THE WELLNESS STRATEGY. SO WE'RE MISSING OVER. AND THAT WAS BECAUSE MISS SAMUEL SHARED THAT WITH US ON MONDAY. AND SO WE'RE MISSING OVER A QUARTER ON OUR CAMPUS. WE DON'T HAVE A WELLNESS GOAL TO IMPROVE HEALTH AND WELLNESS. AND TO ME, THIS ONE IS TO SHARE WITH YOUR PAC. AND I'M ASKING ON BEHALF OF YOUR BOARD LIAISON, BECAUSE IF THERE'S ANY WAY WE CAN LEVERAGE POLICY WITHIN WITHIN THE B SERIES AND PLANNING, AND I DON'T KNOW IF THE FSA, I DON'T KNOW WHERE THAT LANDS, BUT BECAUSE I DO THINK, YOU KNOW, IT IS A VERY, VERY SMALL SAMPLE SIZE, BUT IT'S ACTUALLY EASY, DATA TO ACCESS TO HELP BUILD A WAY TO IMPROVE. EVEN THOUGH I AGREE, YOU DON'T NECESSARILY HAVE TO LIE, BUT YOU COULD USE STRATEGIES. SO MAYBE, YOU KNOW, AND I'M NOT HERE. I KNOW WHAT MY JOB IS, BUT I DO KNOW, YOU KNOW, FROM THE GOVERNANCE ASPECT, THAT THAT'S CONCERNING, THAT WE DON'T HAVE A STRATEGY THAT YOU HAVE CLEAR, CLEAR DATA. RIGHT AND. AND BUT IS THAT THAT IS THAT PART OF THE UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF FACT THAT WE MUST HAVE A CHAT WITH THAT? THAT'S ALSO A LEGAL REQUIREMENT THAT THAT BE IN THEIR STRATEGIC PLAN. OKAY, OKAY. THAT IS AN FSA OKAY. OKAY. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. YEAH. THANK YOU ALL I APPRECIATE IT. AND JUST FOR CLARITY, YES, WHEN THE PRINCIPAL GETS IT, THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO USE IT TO CREATE THEIR CAMPUS GOALS, THEIR CAMPUS IMPROVEMENT PLAN, AND SO CPAC, I WOULD I WOULD THINK IS PART OF THAT PROCESS. SO, SORRY, GUYS, I KNOW THAT, MISS TAYLOR HAS, A MEETING IN THREE MINUTES, SO. BUT ANYWAY, PLEASE HELP ME WELCOME HER, LADIES, THOSE OF YOU THAT STILL HAD QUESTIONS, IF YOU COULD JOT THEM DOWN AND EITHER BRING THEM TO ME OR EMAIL MISS TAYLOR, THAT WAY WE CAN BE SURE AND TRY AND ANSWER THEM. SO, MIKAYLA, IF YOU WANT TO LET ME KNOW WHAT YOUR QUESTION IS OR LET MISS, MISS TAYLOR KNOW, THAT'D BE GREAT. YEAH. OKAY OKAY . ACADEMICS. I, I THINK. OKAY

[00:55:33]

THERE'S. AND DISCIPLINE. DISCIPLINE OR SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN. OKAY. SOME BUT NOT RIGHT.

OKAY AND SO WHAT MISS RUGGS WAS SAYING WAS JUST WITHIN THE CPAC TRYING TO ELEVATE WELLNESS TO A LITTLE BIT OF A HIGHER LEVEL, EVEN THOUGH ACADEMICS AND DISCIPLINE AND TESTING ARE IMPORTANT, WE ALSO WANT, WELL, WELLNESS TO BE, ELEVATED A LITTLE BIT. AND MELANIE.

IF YOU HAD. AN LIAISON TO. SO HAVING CPAC BE MORE PROACTIVE IN INCORPORATING THEIR CAMPUS WELLNESS LEADER, TO MAKE SURE THAT THAT'S. YEAH, AN EASY TRANSITION. OKAY. AND, MISS JAMES, I THINK THE KEY THING IS. FOR CAMPUS LEADERS TO GET WELLNESS, WELLNESS TO ACADEMICS IS ARE WELL OR THE STAFF IS WELL . FOUNDATIONAL TO LEARNING RIGHT . THAT'S WHY BOARD POLICY SAYS WE NEED TO DO A WELLNESS STRATEGY. AS WELL AS YOU KNOW RIGHT. SO WELLNESS IMPACTS ACADEMICS WELLNESS IMPACTS DISCIPLINE AND WELLNESS IMPACTS.

TESTING SO BACK TO THOSE THREE CONNECTING THE WELLNESS TO WHY WHY WE'RE IMPLEMENTING THE POLICIES. AND ESPECIALLY ON THE CAMPUS LEVEL. SO WELL SAID. YOU SAID IT MUCH BETTER THAN ME. BUT HOPEFULLY THAT WAS A GOOD SUMMARY FOR OUR WE DON'T HAVE AN EXTRA MICROPHONE TODAY, SO I APOLOGIZE FOR THAT, SO THAT WAS GREAT DISCUSSION, I REALLY ENCOURAGE EACH OF YOU WITH THAT DATA. YOU KNOW, GO BACK TO YOUR CAMPUS, ASK FOR THAT INFORMATION , IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS, FEEL FREE TO REACH OUT TO US AS OFFICERS, WE OR EXECUTIVE TEAM, WE CAN HAVE PEOPLE REACH OUT IN

[III.B. Celebrations of SHAC Subcommittees, Allison Thummel ]

THE DISTRICT THAT CAN HELP MAKE THAT DATA MORE EASILY ACCESSIBLE IF YOU HAVE ANY PUSHBACK, SO AT THIS TIME, LET'S SEE WHAT OUR NEXT ON OUR AGENDA NEXT ON OUR AGENDA IS OUR CELEBRATION OF SUBCOMMITTEES. SO I'M GOING TO JUST KIND OF CATCH UP REALLY QUICKLY WITH OUR AGENDA, WE DID HAVE SIX SUBCOMMITTEES THIS YEAR. AND I JUST WANT TO DO A QUICK HIGHLIGHT, THIS IS ONE THAT OUR CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE, THIS IS MISS LADONNA'S SCREEN, DO YOU WANT TO COME UP AND SPEAK OR. HELLO MY NAME IS LADONNA GREEN, AND I WORK WITH THE CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEES EVERY YEAR, THE HAWKEYE HEALTH INITIATIVE RELEASES A CALENDAR OF EVENTS AND INITIATIVES. AND WHAT WILL HAPPEN IS THAT I'LL HAVE A MEETING WITH ALL OF THE CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE LEADERS, AND WE'LL SHARE RESOURCES. WE'LL SHARE TOOLKITS, WE'LL HAVE SPEAKERS COME AND SPEAK TO THEM ABOUT THINGS THAT THEY CAN DO, THINGS THAT HAVE WORKED. AND THE THING THAT'S, MOST INTERESTING ABOUT IT IS THAT SOME CAMPUSES WILL DO CERTAIN THINGS AND THEY'LL COME BACK AND SHARE IT IN OTHER CAMPUSES WILL FEEL EMPOWERED TO DO THE SAME. SO IT'S HONEST. IT'S HONESTLY AWESOME TO SEE ALL THE CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE LEADERS COME TOGETHER. AND FROM THAT WE JUST GET AMAZING EVENTS THAT STUDENTS LOVE AND THAT THEY LEARN ABOUT WELLNESS. AND, WELLNESS IS JUST THE FOCUS FOR THAT TIME BEING. SO CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEES HAVE BEEN AMAZING THIS YEAR. I'VE LOVED WORKING WITH THEM AND I LOOK FORWARD TO GREATER THINGS IN THE FUTURE. OH, AND THESE WERE HER ACCOLADES 100% OF CAMPUS PARTICIPATION. AND THEN THIS IS WHAT WE JUST TALKED ABOUT 72% OF THE CAMPUS HAVING A WELLNESS STRATEGY IN THEIR CIP.

OKAY NUTRITION. DO YOU GUYS WANT ME TO RUN THROUGH IT? OKAY. SO NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEE, THERE WAS A GARDEN SURVEY THAT WENT OUT, SOME OF THE NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEES WENT OUT TO SEVERAL OF THE GARDENS, I THINK SEVEN CAMPUSES. IS THAT RIGHT, SEVEN CAMPUSES WAS, WHAT WAS

[01:00:04]

VISITED, WE'RE REALLY TRYING TO ROLL OUT A FEW MORE GARDENS. MISS YURACHEK WAS GOING IS GOING TO KIND OF HEAD UP THE GARDEN INITIATIVES, AND WE'RE TRYING TO GET A FEW MORE ESTABLISHED IN THE, IN THE DISTRICT, THERE WAS AN ART CONTEST, WHAT WAS IT, 794, 764 KIDS IN OUR DISTRICT.

AND IN A MINUTE, WE'RE GOING TO, TAKE A LITTLE BREAK AND GET TO SEE SOME OF THE ARTWORKS OF 764 STUDENTS CREATED, ARTWORK FOR THE CONTEST. AND THEN OUR FOOD FEST, I HAD OVER 400 PARTICIPANTS. IT'S A GREAT EVENT , IF YOU HAVE TIME TO COME NEXT YEAR, IT'S USUALLY IN OCTOBER.

SO THOSE WERE THREE OF THE NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEE GOALS, AND GOOD JOB ON THE NUTRITION SUBCOMMITTEE, STUDENT WELLNESS COMMITTEE'S SB IS NOT HERE, BUT I'LL JUST KIND OF GO THROUGH IT.

WE PARTICIPATED IN THE THINK TANK. THESE WERE YOUR THREE THINK TANK HIGH SCHOOL WINNERS, IN THE GREEN, THE KIDS PUT ON THE WHOLE CHILD HEALTH FAIR. THAT WAS JUST LAST MONTH. AND THE PICTURE OVER HERE IS OUR TRAVIS TIGERS WITH A COUPLE OF, PARTICIPANTS FROM FROM THE EVENT. SO IT WAS A REALLY IT WAS A IT WAS A GOOD EVENT. WE HAD A GREAT SPEAKER, LOTS OF NICE VENDORS. SO GOOD JOB. OKAY. ADVOCACY THE BIG THING THAT ADVOCACY ACCOMPLISHED WAS ESTABLISHING OUR LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES. IF YOU GUYS REMEMBER, WE HAD SIX AND WE TRIMMED IT DOWN TO THREE, AND THOSE ADVOCACY, LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES ARE ON THE WEBSITE, THERE WAS A CIVIC ENGAGEMENT THAT WAS DONE BY MISS CHASTITY LAST MONTH, TALKING ABOUT HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO VOTE AND THE PROCESS, FOR ONE OF THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETINGS, THEY HAD MISTER RICK RAMIREZ, WHO'S THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL RELATIONS MANAGER AT SUGARLAND, TALKING ABOUT THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS AND WHICH BILLS WERE IMPORTANT FOR THE COMMUNITY AND THEN SOME STUDENT VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVES WHOLE CHILD HEALTH. LAURA, DO YOU WANT TO SAY IT? YOU WANT ME TO? OKAY, SO, SHAQ DID APPROVE THE FENTANYL POISONING AWARENESS THIS YEAR, THE WHOLE CHILD HEALTH CREATED SIX WEBINARS AND PRESENTED THOSE VERY WELL ATTENDED, WE DID THE SHAQ PARTICIPATED IN THE SHARED DREAMS. YOU GUYS HELPED BRING FOOD. I THINK IT WAS PEANUT BUTTER TUNA, CANNED ITEMS, AND THEY CELEBRATED THEIR 35TH ANNIVERSARY, SOCIAL WORK IS PRETTY HERE. OH SHE LEFT. OKAY, SO SHE HELPED WITH, SOCIAL WORK. SPREAD THE CHEER TO FAMILIES AT THANKSGIVING. THERE WERE 302 FAMILIES AND THEN 250 FAMILIES DURING THE CHRISTMAS BREAK, SO FANTASTIC PROGRAM C TO SUCCEED. THAT'S FOR PEOPLE, DIFFERENT GRADES THAT HAVE VISION CHECKS, AND THEN THEY'RE PROVIDED WITH GLASSES, AND SAME THING WITH PROJECT SAVING SMILES. THE KIDS WENT THROUGH TEETH INSPECTIONS AND IF THEY NEEDED, SOMETHING TO PUT ON THEIR TEETH OR JUST, YOU KNOW, A GOOD CLEANING, 448 STUDENTS. AND THEN OUR TITLE ONE CAMPUSES, 16,000 STUDENTS RECEIVE SCHOOL SUPPLIES. SO THAT IS FANTASTIC. SO THESE WERE SOME OF THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS FOR WHOLE CHILD HEALTH LED BY MISS SARTAIN . OKAY. P AND PA, THAT WAS KIM WHO JUST LEFT, WE CONTINUE TO HAVE SEVEN ACTION BASED LEARNING LABS ON THE CAMPUSES, AND THEN NATIONAL WALK TO SCHOOL DAY WAS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER, AND TOMORROW IS NATIONAL BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY. SO GET OUT YOUR

[III.C. Brain Break, Courtney Skiles, Health and Engagement Coordinator, United HealthCare ]

BIKES. OKAY OKAY, BEFORE WE DO OUR BRAIN BREAK AND INVITE MISS SKILES UP, I'D LIKE TO SEE.

LET'S SEE. WHERE'S MY SCOUTS, ARE YOU GOING TO GET US MOVING? OKAY, SO WHAT I'D LIKE TO DO IS IF YOU GUYS COULD LINE UP IN 2 OR 3 ROWS, WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND GET A PICTURE. SINCE SOME OF US ARE IN OUR SHAQ SHIRTS, WE'RE GOING TO TRY AND GET A PICTURE AND THEN I'LL LET COURTNEY KIND OF ROPE US INTO OUR BRAIN BREAK. SO THINK OF THIS AS YOUR PRE BRAIN BREAK ACTIVITY. BUT ANYWAY, IF YOU COULD JUST GATHER UP HERE AND WE'LL SEE IF SOMEONE CAN TAKE A PICTURE. OH NO. YOU SHOULD DO IT. OKAY. IS THAT OKAY FOR ME? OKAY YOU'LL TAKE OUR PICTURE. HERE. I GUESS THERE'S MORE ROOM. LET ME. OKAY. I WAS JUST WAITING TO SEE WHERE YOU WERE. SO YOU ARE ON THE BACK. THERE. READY SWITCH A LITTLE BIT. THANK YOU. OKAY. READY. ONE. TWO.

THREE. ONE TWO. SIX. GREAT. YES OKAY. IF EVERYONE WANTS TO GO BACK TO THEIR SEATS. OKAY, OKAY.

[01:05:14]

OKAY. ANYWAY, I WANT TO SAY I. AND I JUST PUSHED THE ARROW AGAIN. OKAY LET ME MAKE SURE WHICH WAY. YEAH. PERFECT OKAY. ALL RIGHT. HOPEFULLY EVERYONE CAN SEE ME. I'M SHORT, BUT MY NAME IS COURTNEY SKILES. I'M WITH UNITED HEALTH CARE. I AM THE HEALTH AND ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR FOR FORT BEND ISD. SO I FOCUS ON OUR STAFF WELLNESS HERE. I'M SUPER EXCITED. I WAS HERE A COUPLE YEARS AGO AND THEN JUST CAME BACK SO EXCITED TO BRING THIS BACK TO EVERYONE.

WE'RE GOING TO DO A BRAIN BREAK TODAY, SO I'M GOING TO GET YOUR HEART MOVING. THESE ARE ALL, SOME OF THEM MIGHT SAY SOUND CRAZY AND YOU MIGHT LOOK AT ME LIKE, COME ON, COURTNEY. BUT THE GOAL IS TO GET YOUR BLOOD PUMPING AND JUST GET A SMILE ON YOUR FACE BECAUSE IT'S ALMOST SUMMER BREAK AND I KNOW WE'RE ALL EXCITED FOR THE NICE HEAT THAT ENJOYED US TODAY, RIGHT? THAT 100 DEGREE TIP. ALL RIGHT. SO THIS IS GOING TO BE A THIS OR THAT. WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO I WANT YOU TO STAY STANDING IF YOU PREFER THE BEACH AND IF YOU PREFER THE RIVER FLOATING THE RIVER CANOEING, ANYTHING LIKE THAT. KAYAKING. I WANT YOU TO DO SOME ARM SWINGS. TELL YOURSELF DON'T HIT YOUR FRIEND THOUGH, OKAY? SO IF YOU PREFER THE BEACH, JUST STAY STANDING REALLY STILL. LIKE A PENCIL. THAT'S WHAT I ALWAYS TELL MY STUDENTS. OKAY, AWESOME. ALL RIGHT, SO WE HAVE MORE BEACH LOVERS. OKAY, NOW I WANT YOU TO RAISE YOUR HAND IF YOU'RE GOING TO VISIT THE BEACH THIS SUMMER. ALL RIGHT. KEEP YOUR HAND UP. IF IT IS NOT GALVESTON. OKAY. LOTS YEAH. AND THEN IF YOU'RE GALVESTON, YOU CAN PUT YOUR HAND UP. IF YOU'RE GOING SOMEWHERE OTHER THAN GALVESTON, PUT YOUR HAND DOWN. WHO'S GOING TO GALVESTON BEACH? WHO'S GOING TO ENJOY THAT NICE. YEAH. BOTH. BOTH AWESOME, I'M GONNA MAKE EVERYONE JEALOUS. I'M HEADED TO HAWAII BEACH TOMORROW, SO SUPER EXCITED ON THAT. ALL RIGHT, NEXT ONE. OKAY. SOME OF OUR FRUIT.

RIGHT? FRUIT IS ALL IMPORTANT, ESPECIALLY FOR HYDRATION. SO I WANT YOU TO PUT HANDS UP IN THE AIR. IF YOU ARE READY FOR WATERMELON AND HANDS, TOUCH YOUR TOES IF YOU'RE READY FOR STRAWBERRIES, ARE AWESOME. ALL RIGHT. THAT'S GREAT. WE HAVE MORE WATERMELON LOVERS. OKAY, WHAT I WANT YOU TO DO IS IF EVERYONE STAND UP, HANDS BY YOUR SIDE, I WANT YOU TO PUT YOUR HANDS UP. IF YOU PREFER SUGAR ON YOUR WATERMELON AND I WANT TO PUT TOUCH YOUR TOES. IF YOU LIKE IT PLAIN AND GO. YEP. SUGAR OR SALT? SALT, SALT, SUGAR SALT. YEAH. OKAY. THERE WE GO. ALL RIGHT. GOOD JOB. I'M A PLAIN WATERMELON GIRL OR FROZEN. LOVE IT. GOOD FROZEN. BUT ALL RIGHT, THIS ARE THAT THIS IS WHERE IT GETS A LITTLE FUN. I WANT YOU TO DO JUMPING JACKS. IF YOU PREFER A NICE COLD ICE CREAM AND SQUATS TO YOUR CHAIR. IF YOU PREFER YOUR POPSICLES. HEY. YEAH NICE.

WE GOT A GOOD MIX. AWESOME. ALL RIGHT. RELAX. ALL RIGHT. AND THEN EVERYONE HIGH FIVE. YOUR NEIGHBOR. IF YOU ARE READY FOR SUMMER VACATION IN. YES. GOOD JOB EVERYONE. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE A SMILE ON YOUR FACE AND SOME BLOOD PUMPING AND ENJOY THE BRAIN BREAK. WOW. OH THAT WAS SO FUN! I'M GLAD IT WAS RELATED TO SUMMER. OKAY OKAY, LET ME CHECK HOW WE'RE DOING TIME WISE. ONE

[IV.A. BOT Summary, FBISD Wellness Policy, Allison Thummel ]

OKAY, I'M GOING TO MAKE THIS SUPER FAST. I'M NOT GOING TO GO THROUGH THE ENTIRE BOARD.

SUMMARY, WE DID SPEAK ON MONDAY NIGHT. IT WAS A IT WAS A LONG MEETING. WE HAD EIGHT SLIDES AND I THINK WE SPOKE FOR ABOUT 30 MINUTES, I WANTED TO SHOW YOU THESE ARE THE SLIDES WE WENT THROUGH. WE TALKED ABOUT THE SUBCOMMITTEES. WE TALKED ABOUT OUR GOALS. SO THESE WERE OUR GOALS THAT WE WERE TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR. THEY ARE ON THE WEBSITE.

IF YOU WANT TO GO BACK AND LOOK, THEY ARE GOING TO BE IN THE POWERPOINT THAT'S COMING TO YOU, THESE WERE THE THREE LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES THAT I JUST DISCUSSED PHYSICAL FITNESS, MENTAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH. AND THEN HEALTHY SCHOOL MEALS. AND WE TALKED A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS. WE TALKED ABOUT OUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS. THESE WERE NINE ITEMS THAT THE SHACK ACCOMPLISHED THIS YEAR, THESE WERE OUR THINK TANK WINNERS. AND THEN I WANT TO STOP AT THIS SLIDE A MOMENT. SO THESE ARE THE SEVEN RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE HAD FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES, I WAS REALLY EXCITED. THIS WAS THE MOST EXCITED SLIDE THAT I WAS, YOU KNOW, EXCITED TO PRESENT. SO WE AS THE SHACK HAVE SOME REALLY AGGRESSIVE GOALS. AND I WANT TO KIND OF HIGHLIGHT THE TWO THAT I THINK ARE THE MOST AGGRESSIVE. ONE IS WE ARE LOOKING AT ESTABLISHING WHAT KIND OF CELL PHONE RECOMMENDATIONS ARE FOR DIFFERENT CAMPUSES, WE I ASKED THE BOARD IF WE COULD ESTABLISH A COMMITTEE TO REVIEW SOME BEST POLICIES, I REALLY THINK THAT THE DISTRICT NEEDS TO BE ON THE FOREFRONT OF EXPLORING WHAT ARE THE BEST PRACTICES, AND THEN AND THEN IMPLEMENT IT, THERE WAS REALLY POSITIVE FEEDBACK FROM THE BOARD, SO I'M EXCITED ABOUT

[01:10:05]

THAT ONE. AND, I JUST WANT YOU WANT EVERYBODY TO KNOW IN CASE, YOU KNOW, THE PUBLIC OR YOUR, YOUR CAMPUS ASKS YOU ABOUT THIS, WE'RE NOT SPECIFICALLY SAYING NO CELL PHONES, BUT WE DO WANT TO JUST REVIEW DIFFERENT POLICIES AND BEST PRACTICES, AND THEN THE SECOND ONE THAT MIGHT HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF PUSHBACK IS WE ARE ASKING FOR THE FEASIBILITY OF STARTING HIGH SCHOOLS AT A LATER TIME THAT BOTH THE CDC AND THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF PEDIATRICS RECOMMEND FOR HIGH SCHOOLS START NO EARLIER THAN 830. IN THE MORNING. SO, THESE OTHER TOPICS OR RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE HAVE, YOU KNOW, THERE'S STILL AGGRESSIVE AND, YOU KNOW, WE'RE GOING TO PUSH FORWARD. BUT I THINK THAT THESE TWO MIGHT BE THE MOST DISCUSSION IN THE COMMUNITY. WE DID ASK FOR, GUN SAFETY AND STORAGE INFORMATION, MR. ROSEBERRY WAS SAYING THAT THIS IS NOW A STATE BILL, WHERE IT'S EASILY ACCESSIBLE. SO FORT BEND SHOULD BE ABLE TO PROVIDE EASY, SAFE, SAFE GUN STORAGE AND SAFETY INFORMATION, WITH LESS PUSHBACK BECAUSE IT IS NOW ALLOWED WITH WITH THAT STATE BILL THREE, AND THEN I WHEN WE BREAK INTO OUR BREAKOUT SESSIONS, YOUR QUESTIONS ARE GOING TO BE SURROUNDING THESE SEVEN GOALS. SO WHEN WE COME TO THAT PART OF THE PRESENTATION, I'LL BACK UP TO THE SLIDE SO THAT YOU CAN SEE IT. BUT THESE ARE IN THE NEXT 2425 SCHOOL YEAR. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE WORKING TOWARDS. SO IF YOU ARE A SUBCOMMITTEE LEADER, THINK ABOUT HOW YOU CAN USE THESE GOALS AND WHAT STEPS YOU CAN TAKE. WHAT CAN YOU HAVE YOUR GOALS BE THAT ARE GOING TO BE WORKING TOWARDS THESE DIRECTIONS? YES SO THE POINT YOU BROUGHT UP, THE FEASIBILITY FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL COMING, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'RE AWARE OF THE 3 OR 4 YEARS AGO, MAYBE FIVE YEARS AGO, THERE WAS A BIG STUDY DONE TO CHASSIS FOR IT, AND IT CAME BACK SAYING THAT WITH ALL THE SCHOOL BUSSES AND THE CONSERVATION AND THE SPORTS AND THE ELECTRICITY, AND THERE WAS A STUDY DONE FOR THAT. OKAY. SO THE COMMENT WAS THAT THERE WAS A STUDY DONE PREVIOUSLY, AND I BELIEVE IT WAS BEFORE, COVID. SO IT WAS UNDER DOCTOR DUPREE'S LEADERSHIP AND, 1718 SO WE ARE LOOKING AT REVISITING THAT AND EXPLORING THE POSSIBILITIES BECAUSE THINGS MIGHT HAVE CHANGED. RIGHT. SO WE DO WANT TO REEVALUATE IT BECAUSE THERE'S STILL SO MUCH DATA THAT SHOWS THAT THOSE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS BENEFIT. THE IMPROVED TEST SCORES, IMPROVED GRADES, EVERYTHING BENEFITS. SO EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE DONE THAT IN THE PAST, WE OR I BELIEVE IT'S OKAY TO ASK FOR ANOTHER ONE. OKAY. ANY OTHER COMMENTS? FOR OTHER AGE GROUPS. I DIDN'T SPECIFICALLY LOOK FOR THE OTHER AGE GROUPS, BUT, BOTH THE AAP AND CDC WAS SPECIFICALLY FOR HIGH SCHOOL, SO, I DIDN'T LOOK FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY, I KNOW. RIGHT. SO RIGHT, FROM A BUS STANDPOINT. RIGHT. THE LOGISTICS TO GET THE ELEMENTARY 80,000 STUDENTS. RIGHT. SO, JUST POINTING OUT THAT THE TRANSPORTATION MIGHT HAVE BEEN THE LOGISTICAL ISSUE, AND THEN YEAH, WE DIDN'T, YOU KNOW, IN MY RESEARCH, I DID NOT LOOK AT ELEMENTARY OR MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVELS. WELL, I MEAN, THAT STUDY WILL LOOK AT IS, IS. YOU WOULD THINK. BUT I MEAN, YEAH, THE TRANSPORTATION OF COURSE, WOULD HAVE SOME INPUT. I MEAN, ALL ATHLETICS IS GOING TO HAVE TO INPUT FINE ARTS. YEAH YEAH. SO WE'LL DEFINITELY LOOK AT WHAT, SHAQ AND THE DISTRICT LOOKED AT IN THE 1718 SCHOOL YEAR AND BRING SOME OF THAT INFORMATION, REVISIT IT. AND THEN, YOU KNOW, OBVIOUSLY WE WANT FRESH NEW INFORMATION AS WELL. SO LIGHTING. YEAH. LIGHTING FOR THOSE ELEMENTARY KIDS WAITING AT THE BUS STOP OKAY, ALSO AT THIS TIME I'M GOING TO GO AND INVITE

[IV.B. Wellness Policy Vote, Jenna Ross, SHAC Secretary ]

MISS ROSS UP. WHO? OKAY. DID ANYBODY RECEIVE THE BRAG BOOK? I KNOW, DID YOU EMAIL IT OUT? NO OKAY, SO WE, ACTUALLY, I WANT TO TAKE THIS MOMENT OF PERSONAL PRIVILEGE, I SEE VANESSA. LORI, IF YOU GUYS PARTICIPATED MY CHILD NUTRITION, IF YOU PARTICIPATED ON THE WELLNESS POLICY REVIEW, CAN YOU JUST KIND OF STAND UP AND GIVE A LITTLE WAVE THERE WERE A LOT OF A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT WENT INTO THAT, ESPECIALLY MISS SARTAIN, BUT THERE WERE HOURS AND HOURS THAT WENT INTO THIS, WE REVIEWED. SO EVERY THREE YEARS WE HAVE TO REVIEW THE TRIENNIAL WELLNESS POLICY. THE POLICY IS ON THE, THE WEBSITE. RIGHT. AND THEN I CAN PASS THIS AROUND. THIS IS OUR BRAG BOOK. WE PRESENTED THIS TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES AND, ON PAGE I'LL GIVE YOU IN CASE YOU WANT TO LOOK AT IT ON PAGE NINE AND TEN IS THE TRIENNIAL WELLNESS PLAN EDITS. SO IF YOU

[01:15:04]

WANT A CONCISE LOOK AT WHAT WE PROPOSE, WHAT WE HAVE PROPOSED FOR THE EDITS, LOOK ON PAGE NINE AND TEN. WE DID SEND THEM OUT. I SENT THEM OUT I THINK FRIDAY OR SATURDAY THEY ALSO WENT OUT AGAIN MONDAY. SO JIGISHA DO WE HAVE QUORUM? WE DO HAVE QUORUM. OKAY. SO I'M GOING TO INVITE MISS ROSS UP HERE. WHO WILL TAKE THE VOTE FOR, THE WELLNESS POLICY. BUT I'M GOING TO START PASSING. CAN WE HAVE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE CHANGES TO THE WELLNESS POLICY? THANK YOU. AND SECOND, THANK YOU. GINA. WE HAVE A. [IV.D. Meeting Dates for 2024-25 School Year, Catalina Flores-Rau, Incoming SHAC Chair ]

REMOTE. OKAY SO THESE ARE THE, DATES THAT WE HAVE SET FOR NEXT YEAR. SO GO AHEAD AND TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR CALENDARS. MAKE SURE YOU SAVE THOSE DAYS, WE HAVE THE SIX MEETINGS, SO, THEY'LL BE ON SAME WEDNESDAYS, 12 TO 2. SO MAKE SURE YOU GUYS TAKE A LOOK AT THAT. AND IT'LL BE SENT OUT ALSO. YEAH ON THE WEBSITE. OKAY AND I JUST WANT TO, POINT OUT THE BRAG BOOK WILL NOT GO OUT, BECAUSE WE JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT FOR THE KIDS PICTURES WHO ARE IN THOSE BOOKS, WE'RE JUST GOING TO KEEP IT TO THIS HARD COPY. SO IF YOU DIDN'T GET A CHANCE DURING THE MEETING TO SEE THE BRAG BOOK AND YOU WANT TO COME UP AFTERWARDS, FEEL FREE TO COME ON UP.

RIGHT, YEAH, I COULD DO THAT. YEAH OKAY, I COULD DO THAT. OKAY HELLO AGAIN. I'M LADONNA GREEN.

[IV.E. Past Events & Upcoming Events- LaDonna Green ]

I'M THE WELLNESS HEALTH AND PREVENTION SPECIALIST FOR THE DISTRICT, IF YOU LOOK TO THE SIDE, YOU'LL SEE SOME AMAZING ARTWORK. I'M GOING TO CALL IT MISS BRIANNA GARCIA TO HIGHLIGHT WHAT OUR STUDENTS HAVE DONE. AND THEN WE'RE GOING TO TAKE A SHORT BREAK SO YOU CAN GO AND VIEW, THE ARTISTRY. IT'S JUST AMAZING. SO MISS BRIANNA. THANK YOU. LADONNA. SO WE HAD OUR NATIONAL NUTRITION MONTH IN MARCH THIS YEAR, AND WE HELD A BEYOND THE TABLE ART CONTEST FOR OUR STUDENTS. SO WITH THOSE 764 SUBMISSIONS, WE NARROWED DOWN TO OUR TOP THREE AND OUR HIGH SCHOOL, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND ELEMENTARY LEVEL. SO IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO COME ON BY AND TAKE A LOOK AT OUR FIRST, SECOND AND THIRD PLACE WINNERS, THEIR NAMES, THEIR CAMPUS AND GRADE CAN BE FOUND ON OUR CHILD NUTRITION WEBSITE. SO FORT BEND ISD. I JUST HAVE A COUPLE ANNOUNCEMENTS TO GO OVER BEFORE WE, SPLIT UP INTO OUR GROUPS. SO IN MAY IS MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH. I THINK ON THE FIRST WAS MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR MONTH, AND MISS VANESSA, WHO IS A COORDINATOR OF SOCIAL WORK IN MENTAL HEALTH, SHE'S DONE A WONDERFUL JOB RECOGNIZING THE MENTAL HEALTH THERAPISTS IN THE DISTRICT, TOMORROW WE CELEBRATE, WALK OUR BACK TO SCHOOL DAY. IT'S USUALLY VERY HEAVILY ATTENDED AND, THE SECURITY GUARDS COME AND MAKE SURE EVERYBODY'S SAFE. I KNOW WE HAD A COUPLE LAST WEEK, SO IT'S PRETTY MUCH SPREAD OUT THROUGHOUT THE MONTH BECAUSE OF TESTING. BUT THERE ARE A LOT OF SCHOOLS HAVING IT TOMORROW.

RIGHT NOW WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT, NURSE APPRECIATION DAY AND NURSE NURSE APPRECIATION WEEK. WE'RE GOING TO HAVE, THE DIRECTOR WHO SUPPORTS THE NURSES TO COME UP AND SPEAK ABOUT IT BECAUSE IT'S A WONDERFUL PROGRAM. SO MISS LORI SARTAIN, WHO IS THE DIRECTOR OF HEALTH AND WELLNESS, WILL COME UP AND SPEAK ABOUT NURSE APPRECIATION. WE DO HAVE ONE OF OUR AWESOME NURSES. I KNOW IT WAS LAST WEEK, BUT WE CAN CELEBRATE HER TODAY. SO NATALIE'S HERE. SO OUR NURSES, WE JUST APPRECIATE THEM SO MUCH. THEY ARE THE ONLY HEALTH PROFESSIONAL ON A CAMPUS, AND SOME OF THEM ARE TAKING CARE OF 500,015 HUNDRED. SOME CAMPUSES, 3000 KIDS, SO WE REALLY APPRECIATE ALL THEY DO EVERY DAY. WE KNOW THEY ARE, TAKING CARE OF NOT ONLY OUR STUDENTS, BUT ALSO OUR STAFF, THEY'VE REALLY HAD A HARD LAST COUPLE OF YEARS WITH THE PANDEMIC AND EVERYTHING. SO WE JUST. NATALIE, LIKE WE SAID AT THE MEETING LAST WEEK, WE JUST WE'RE JUST IN ALL OF EVERYTHING THAT Y'ALL DO. EVERYTHING, ALL THE HATS THAT YOU WEAR ON YOUR CAMPUS. AND WE DON'T KNOW WHAT WE WOULD DO WITHOUT YOU. SO WE JUST REALLY APPRECIATE YOU AND THE WHOLE TEAM, THEY HAVE AMAZING LEADERS. I KNOW SAM AND CHERYL AND MARIE ARE USUALLY HERE, BUT THEY'RE OBVIOUSLY ON CAMPUSES, PUTTING OUT FIRES AND HELPING FAMILIES WITH THEIR HEALTH NEEDS. SO LAST WEEK WAS NATIONAL, NURSE APPRECIATION WEEK. IT WAS ALSO TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK. SO WE WERE ABLE TO, HAVE A NURSES MEETING LAST WEDNESDAY, HAVE ALL THE NURSES COME. WE'RE ABLE TO PROVIDE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH, OUR CHAC MEMBERS, DANA AND ALLISON, THEY DID AN AMAZING JOB OF GETTING ALL THESE RAFFLES FOR THEM. I MEAN, IT WAS LIKE A RAFFLE EVERY FIVE SECONDS. SO I THINK EVERYBODY LEFT WITH SOMETHING REALLY FUN AND EXCITING. SO WE HOPE YOU ALL FELT APPRECIATED BECAUSE WE DEFINITELY LOVE AND APPRECIATE YOU. SO THANK YOU ALL FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO. OKAY, SO IF YOU ARE A LIAISON, THOSE ARE PEOPLE THAT MAYBE MIGHT NOT BE BOARD OR, SHACK MEMBERS, BUT WE HAVE A COUPLE OF ASSIGNED SEATS FOR YOU. WE WOULD LIKE FOR YOU TO LOOK FOR OTHER LIAISONS, OVER THE SUMMER, WE'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT OUR FEEDER PATTERNS AND MAKING SURE THAT EVERY OF EACH OF OUR 12 OR 13 HIGH SCHOOL FEEDER PATTERNS HAS A LIAISON AT THOSE CAMPUSES. WE REALLY, WANT, EVERY CAMPUS TO

[01:25:03]

FEEL LIKE THEY ARE SUPPORTED AND HAVE THAT WELLNESS. RIGHT? WE WANT THAT WELLNESS TIP, CELEBRATE BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY IF YOU CAN. OR, YOU KNOW, JUST GET OUT THERE AND CHEER ON THE KIDS, VERY FUN DAY. IT'S GREAT, WORK WITH YOUR CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE THIS IS SOMETHING THAT THE CIPS ARE ESTABLISHED OVER THE SUMMER. TYPICALLY SO REACH OUT TO YOUR CAMPUS PRINCIPAL OR YOUR CAMPUS WELLNESS COMMITTEE. ASK IF YOU CAN BE PART OF THOSE DISCUSSIONS, AND THEN SEE IF YOU CAN HELP PROMOTE WELLNESS. TRYING TO GET THAT WELLNESS STRATEGY INTO POLICY, AND THEN RETURN TO SHACK ON SEPTEMBER 4TH. WE DO ASK IF YOU WANT TO BRING A GUEST, IF YOU HAVE A NEIGHBOR OR SOMEONE AT YOUR SCHOOL, THAT MIGHT BE A GOOD REPRESENTATIVE, PLEASE BRING THEM. WE'RE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW, NEW INDIVIDUALS TO HELP, YOU KNOW, PROMOTE WELLNESS EVEN

MORE. SO, AT THIS TIME, WHAT I'M GOING TO DO IS WE HAVE THESE YELLOW STICKY NOTES. YOU GUYS KNOW ME. I LOVE STICKY NOTES. WE ARE GOING TO DO BREAKOUTS REGARDING WHICH HIGH SCHOOL FEEDER PATTERN YOU REPRESENT. NOW, IF YOU'RE A COMMUNITY MEMBER, IF YOU DON'T REALLY HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL OR IF YOU'RE OUT OF THE DISTRICT, I WROTE THE MASCOTS AROUND THE ROOM. SO I WANT YOU TO PICK YOUR FAVORITE MASCOT. WE HAVE BRONCOS, SO THERE'S SOME OVER HERE. I THINK THE CORNER ALSO HAS ROOM. I THINK THAT'S RIDGE POINT. I DON'T REMEMBER WHAT THIS ONE IS, BUT ANYWAY, IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A CAMPUS, WALK AROUND AND SEE IF YOU CAN FIND YOUR FAVORITE MASCOT. OR MAYBE IF THERE'S A GROUP THAT ONLY HAS 1 OR 2, WE DO HAVE QUESTIONS FOR YOU. SO THE QUESTIONS ARE REGARDING WHAT THE SHACK IS RECOMMENDING AS OUR GOALS NEXT YEAR. AND THERE'S FOUR QUESTIONS. SO IT'S REALLY EASY. THE QUESTIONS ALREADY LISTED FOR YOU I DO, REQUEST THAT IF YOU HAVE A PEN, IF YOU'LL BRING IT WITH YOU, BECAUSE I DON'T THINK WE HAVE 12 PENS. BUT ANYWAY, FIND YOUR CAMPUS. WE'RE GOING TO SPLIT INTO ABOUT 10 TO 12 LOT OF I KNM GOING TO START WORKING TOWARDS FINDING IT OKAY. TEST OKAY FOLKS IT'S ALMOST 145. AND SO IF YOU

[VI. Meeting Closure-Allison Thummel and Catalina Flores-Rau ]

CAN START WINDING UP, PLEASE. IT'S THE. THAT MAKES MORE SENSE. BUT IT WOULD STILL BE NICE.

YEAH. I AGREE WITH YOU. THERE'S A LOT. YEAH. AT LEAST. YEAH. THEY USE LIKE A. YEAH. YOU READY TO GET TO HAND IT OVER TO YOU? OKAY OKAY. WE ONLY HAVE ANOTHER MINUTE OR TWO LEFT IN OUR MEETING, SO IF YOU COULD START MAKING YOUR WAY BACK TO YOUR SEATS, PLEASE. YEAH. ALL RIGHT.

KIND OF WINDING UP. OKAY AND I WISH I. WE HAD A PICTURE OF THIS PERSON TO PUT UP. WE MISSED SOMEONE THAT WE REALLY WOULD LIKE TO HONOR, SO THIS YOUNG LADY HAS BEEN WITH, SHAQ FOR THE PAST 23 YEARS. IS THAT RIGHT? 2019. SO WE ACCIDENTALLY MISSED MISS SANDY BRISTOW. SO EVERYBODY, PLEASE HELP ME CONGRATULATE 17 YEARS. YEAH. AND WE HAVE A WELLNESS HERO MUG FOR YOU. SO FOR 17 FOR 19 YEARS SHE HAS SERVED ON THE FORT BEND SHAQ . SO I MEAN THAT'S A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF YEARS AMOUNT OF DEDICATION. SO REALLY SANDY WE'RE SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SERVICE. AND WE'RE WE'RE SORRY FOR THE OVERSIGHT. AND SO WITH THIS I'D LIKE TO TAKE A BRIEF MOMENT AND THANK AND RECOGNIZE THE SHAQ MEMBERSHIP. EACH OF YOU HAS MADE SUCH A CONTRIBUTION TO THE SHAQ. THERE ARE SO MANY OTHER PEOPLE IN THE DISTRICT. MY CHILD NUTRITION. I'VE BEEN ON SUBCOMMITTEE FOR YEARS, AND OTHER DOCTOR WESTBROOK I YOU KNOW, EVERYBODY HAS MADE SUCH A CONTRIBUTION. SO THANK YOU FOR MAKING MY CHAIR SO EASY. I'M FOREVER GRATEFUL FOR YOU AS SHAQ MEMBERS FOR TRUSTING ME AS YOUR CHAIR. I JOINED SHAQ EIGHT YEARS AGO AS A PARENT MEMBER. I WAS ASKED TO SIT SIX YEARS AGO AS CHAIR, BUT I KNEW MY TIME AT LIFE AND LIFE WASN'T RIGHT. I DELAYED THE POSITION IN MELANIE, STEPPED INTO THAT CHAIR SO GRACIOUSLY TWO YEARS BEFORE ME. SHE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN HELPING GUIDE ME INTO THE CHAIR LEADERSHIP, AND I DO THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO SAY YES WHEN YOU KNOW THE YES IS THE RIGHT TIME IN YOUR LIFE. SO LIKE I SAID, I WAS THAT WAS NOT THE RIGHT TIME FOR ME, PERSONALLY, I THINK IT'S

[01:30:05]

NICE WHEN YOUR PASSIONS AND YOUR VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES OVERLAP IN SUCH AN AMAZING WAY. SO SERVING AS YOUR SHAQ CHAIR THE PAST TWO YEARS HAS BEEN WONDERFUL, AND THE TEAM AND I HAVE HELPED ENJOY ELEVATE SHAQ'S POSITION IN THE DISTRICT. WE'VE ENJOYED PROMOTING WELLNESS. AND LIKE I SAID, OVER AND OVER, IT WASN'T JUST ME. IT WAS A TEAM EFFORT AND IT WAS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED FOR 1920 YEARS. YOU KNOW, THE PEOPLE THAT HAD LED BEFORE ME, SO I'M REALLY GRATEFUL FOR EVERYBODY. I'M OPTIMISTIC ABOUT THE FUTURE OF SHAQ. WE HAVE SOME LOFTY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE 2425 SCHOOL YEAR. I KNOW THAT I WILL LEAVE THE POSITION TO CATALINA, WHO WILL SERVE INCREDIBLY WELL. I WILL STAY ON IN AN ADVISORY CAPACITY, BUT I KNOW THE SHAQ WILL CONTINUE TO MAKE WAVES, POSITIVE WAVES IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. SO IT IS NOW MY PRIVILEGE TO TURN THE MEETING OVER TO CATALINA, WHO WILL CLOSE OUR LAST 2324 MEETING. I HAD TO WRITE IT. I WAS GOING TO CRY. IF NOT. OH, THANK YOU. SO, ALLISON, DANA AND I, WE HELPED TRY TO GATHER SOME THINGS, THIS IS ALL ON BEHALF OF THE SHACK COMMITTEE. WE REALLY APPRECIATE EVERYTHING THAT YOU'VE DONE. AND I KNOW THAT I HAVE BIG SHOES TO FILL, BUT I KNOW YOU'RE RIGHT NEXT TO ME THE WHOLE TIME, SO WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A GOOD TIME, I REALLY DO ENJOY ALL THE PEOPLE THAT ARE IN THIS ROOM. AND I THINK, WHAT YOU'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO DURING THIS TIME HAS BEEN AN INSPIRATION, AND I REALLY HOPE TO JUST DO AS WELL AS YOU DID.

SO THANK YOU SO MUCH, GUYS. THANK YOU. AND I GUESS THIS, YOU KNOW, THANK YOU TO EVERYBODY.

AND, THIS CONCLUDES TODAY'S MEETING. I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYBODY IN SEPTEMBER.

AND WE'LL BE PLANNING THINGS, EXCITING THINGS, OVER THE COURSE OF THE SUMMER, ONE LAST THING. I DID WANT TO GET OUT, BECAUSE I THINK IT WAS AWESOME THAT WE SPLIT OUT BY FEEDER PATTERN, PLEASE COME GET BACK TO ME. GET IN TOUCH WITH ME. IF YOU FOUND THAT WE HAD SOME BIG. BECAUSE I JUST REALIZED THAT I WAS FOCUSED ON MY GROUP, IF THERE WERE GAPS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU FELT LIKE YOU WERE. YOU KNOW, THERE WEREN'T ENOUGH PEOPLE, WE NEED TO DO WHAT WE CAN TO TRY TO GET AS MUCH REPRESENTATION IN HERE AS POSSIBLE SO THAT WE GET THE WORD OUT. TO ALL OF THE CAMPUSES. SO JUST KEEP ME POSTED. ANYWAY THANK YOU GUYS, AND THANK YOU. MEETING ADJOURNED. YEP.
